Hi Are there any newer versions of Pi-Cromite ? There's no single thread with all the versions on it, the last one I have doesn't work properly on Buster |

I'm sorry to report that I have given up on the Pi-cromite. The repeated new versions of both the Pi and Raspbian that break existing code make it impracticable to maintain. I did have it working on the original release of Buster but one or more of the updates to Buster means I can't get it to work reliably and there aren't enough hours in the day to fight a continuously moving target. If anyone wants the source code and would like to try and maintain it going forward then as long as they stick to Geoff's approach to licensing then I am happy to hand it over. |

That's a real shame because it's the only thing that can use MMBasic that has WiFi onboard If someone does take this on then make it for one version of Pi operating system even if it's Stretch with no updates when they change up and no further models of Pi past Pi 3+ ie it can't be used on Pi4 versions That should make it easier to find bugs and problems |

> the only thing that can use MMBasic that has WiFi onboard If you explicitly want ( need ) MMBasic then yes . There are other Basics that do OK on RPi though . my site |

You could also try the latest picromite on older versions of Buster. The older versions were released as raspbian, I think they are here: http://downloads.raspberrypi.org/raspbian/images/ This looks like the first "buster": http://downloads.raspberrypi.org/raspbian/images/raspbian-2019-06-24/ and the newer versions were released as raspberry pi os http://downloads.raspberrypi.org/raspios_armhf/ |

Best way forward is if someone on the forum has a working raspbian with working MMBasic, is that they draw an image of that SD card and use that. Only thing you need to do is - shrink the image (raspbian floods the whole SD card, but essentially needs only 2 Gbyte) to 3.5 Gbyte or so (so it will alway fit on any 4Gbyte+ SD card). Can be done with Gparted. - use dd to draw a .img from that card (on another linux system). - never ever update raspbian, or you will break MMbasic. PicomiteVGA PETSCII ROBOTS |

You could try using the forum search. But of course it is easier to let someone else do it https://www.thebackshed.com/forum/ViewTopic.php?TID=10798&PID=127557#127557 |

I did use the forum search But there are so many posts with different versions in different threads it's really hard to tell what the latest one was Edited 2020-09-07 22:41 by lew247 |
