My CMM2 came without a power switch, just the jumper. It works fine, but I would really like to have the power switch. Unfortunately, although I checked with several USA distributors, I am unable to find the exact SPDT toggle switch with the 3 solder lugs at 90 degrees from the toggle handle, and lugs with 5 mm (3/16") spacing between two of them and 13 mm (1/2") spacing between the third lug and the other two. So I am hoping maybe Geoff can tell us what part to buy and where to get it. I am happy to order from an overseas source. Thanks! -Bill |

I desoldered the wire jumper and replaced it with a two-pin 0.10" header. For a board outside of the case, it was easy to put a jumper across the pins for the board to work like before. After I put it in a case, I ran wires from the switch of my choice to a two-pin plug and plugged it into the header so I could control the CMM2 with a switch. |

I don't think that solution will work for me. I want a toggle that uses the existing front cover hole and solders directly to the PCB using the existing plated holes. -Bill |

It's listed right in the construction guide PDF.... Right-angle vertical PCB-mount SPDT toggle switch [Altronics S1320, RS 734-7107, element14 9473297, Digi-key EG2364-ND, Mouser 34ASP27T7M2QT] I bought from Digit-Key... Of course the damn shipping costs more than the single part... https://www.digikey.com/products/en?keywords=EG2364-ND Unsolder the existing jumper, clean the holes, insert this, solder it in... Took me more time to get the existing jumper wire out than it did to put the switch in... Edited 2020-09-05 04:37 by mkopack73 |

Oh, great! I don't have the kit atm, just a pre-assembled CMM2. I did check on Mouse but of course I didn't have the part number. Sweet! Now I will buy some. -Bill |

Keep in mind the Toggle switch specified is "upside down" by U.S. standards. I guess down in the land of Oz down is on and up is off? You might do better to mount a switch on the front panel and attach it with short wires if you want on to be up! Or it's an SPDT switch so you could do a hack job on the pcb to switch the wire to the other lead on the switch. Edited 2020-09-05 06:33 by Sasquatch -Carl |

Yeah but honestly, you get used to it pretty quickly. Not like you keep switching it on and off 100 times a day... |

I bought this same part (and a couple more parts for other projects to make shipping palatable) from Digi-key as well. I did exactly what mkopack73 said-- remove jumper and clean up old solder, then solder the new switch in. Rich/dw |
