Notice. New forum software under development. It's going to miss a few functions and look a bit ugly for a while, but I'm working on it full time now as the old forum was too unstable. Couple days, all good. If you notice any issues, please contact me.

Here is another puzzle game, this time a port/rewrite/update of something I wrote a while back for the original Colour Maximite.

Your task is to knock all but one ball from a playing surface. (Maybe a bit like Covid social distancing.)

Included are 55 diffrent levels. If you want to create more levels, please post ideas here and I could add them.

The game currently works only with the keyboard. I am pondering Nunchuk support.

This game is written using mode 1,16. That's 800x600 resolution by 16 bit colour. The range of colour is quite nice but the speed is less than fantastic. It works fine for this game with minimal animation but maybe not for much more on-screen action.

Have fun, and let me know about any issues.

Another Fine Puzzle Game with nice graphics and sound!  Well done!  Falfus2 is a favorite when the Young'uns visit, this will give us something new to chew on.

Indeed.

It may suffer from the same issue as Falfus. Despite different graphics and field size, it is possible that some patterns match those of the original source idea game. While I created most of the levels, some could be copies, and some could be slightly modified copies. (Fling! for Android and iOS for those who are wondering.)

I've got to think up an original...

Darn,

"It's old Mr. Vegipete from the amusement arcade!"

"And I'd have gotten away with it, too, if it weren't for those meddling copyright lawyers!" ...

Best wishes,

Tom

Here's a not entirely original idea, but my recollection is so bad there's no way the levels could be copied.

I remember a game played in a grid where two players (one could be the computer) put counters in the grid, each cell of the grid had a "critical mass" where if too many counters were placed an "explosion" would happen scattering the counters from that cell into adjacent cells causing a chain reaction.

I can't even remember how you win - I think counters are destroyed somehow and when you run out of counters you lose (although I can't recall how this worked).

Does this jog anyone's memory?

I seem to recall a game of a similar concept from the mid- to late-1980s, which I played on my PC. If I recall correctly, it came from Compute! Magazine, either typed in, or from one of their cover diskettes.

I can't really remember much more than that - just that I seem to recall having played a game with that basic concept, and watching those bombs scatter slowly in 4-color CGA while accompanied by shrill single-voice sound effects.
