Well, it's Christmas, so I bought myself(and my company) a new toy:

I've blurred the serial number so it remains valid for me, and not someone else who copies it from my image.

I expect this will be a bit of a change from my 20MHz Digitor analog scope.
More pictures soon.  Don't have time right now to open and play with my new toy, as I am still trying to finish some stuff for Christmas.

I just received my new christmas present also.
100mHz  1g/sample with inbuilt signal generator.
Only took 5 days from order to receive from China.
Have not had a change to put it through it's passes as yet.

Santa wasn't as nice to me.
I only got the SDS 1104X-E

But one very happy chappy.

No more downloading screenshots by slow serial and it is nice to be able to monitor the CRO from the comfort of the lounge using a tablet.

I hummed and hawed about weather to get 2-channel or 4-channel, 100MHz or 200MHz, but ended up just getting the 200MHz 4-channel one.  Cost more, but I expect it is still a good deal for the amount of DSO you get.

I know you can hack the 100MHz one to make it 200MHz, but that voids the warranty, and frankly, I could not be bothered to do it if you can buy a 200MHz one off the shelf.

These come with a 3-year warranty, which is unusually long in this day and age were new stuff does not normally have more then a 1-year warranty.  I bought it from a NZ seller to support a bit of local business.

I'd better get it out of the box and set it up and have a play!
I just have to finish the project I am working on now, then I will.

We all seemed to have gone a little crazy.
I went seriously overboard (this has every option).

Very nice Geoff.

One thing I have learnt so far.
The Siglent screen dumps are in a strange 16bit format PNG which the forum didn't like.
Opens OK in Paint and 'save as' will get it into 32bit and much smaller file as a bonus.

Still a lot better than my old Techtronics.

Wow! That RTB2004 looks like a serious bit of kit. Nice!

Yeah, my poor old 20MHz analog scope really has not had any use for years, as it it really only useful now, for fault-finding audio circuits or other low-frequency stuff.

I won't be throwing it out though - I will stash it somewhere, but my new toy can then take pride of placement in my workshop.

I expect I have quite a bit to learn about the new DSO's features!

Yes, I expect with that feature-set, it was not the cheapest scope you could buy!
Geoff - do you mind us asking what that one cost you?

I went for something completely different

Only 2 channel, 2.5Gs/s 200MHz but:
portable, battery powered, and all channels fully isolated to CAT-III, including from each other

What does this mean - never again having to worry about connecting the GND wire to the wrong place. I can connect GND on one probe to the mains supply if I want and the signal to a 5VDC line and the scope is perfectly happy. The other GND can be connected to earth  - no problem

The unit is quite old and second hand - they are seriously expensive new but everything works perfectly and having the integrated meter with a easily readable display is a great bonus

It was (gulp) A$5,950

But it has everything... 4 channels at 300MHz with 10-bit resolution, 16 channel 250MHz logic analyser, 25 MHz waveform generator.  The options doubled the price but I have spent my life wishing for something that did it all.  Now the kids will have a bit less of an inheritance.

Forgot to say - it weighs a ton !!!

lovely.

I recycled a Goldstar 20MHz analogue scope a year or two back but my 100MHz digital scope, for all it's features and power doesn't feel as... "switch on and go" as my trusty old analogue. No room for it, couldn't find anyone who wanted it and they go for peanuts on ebay

Mine is a EZ40 Tank-less water heater and washer/dryer in one combo.
Needed these so I can rip out the wall between kitchen and laundry room to make
a newer bigger kitchen. Saw some shows from England that has the combo in the
kitchen with counter running across the top just like a dish washer.

Rebuild was to start in April but C-19 put a damper on it.
Here's hoping 2021 will let me get my rebuild started and finished.

Hi Matherp,

I was on the design team of that beast. If you find the easter egg in it.....
Challenge (not really it floats on the web)...
Did you get a new battery with it ?(these batteries are quite expensive).

Me too . The only reason I went digital is that
there is no flat-screen analog .
I hate when I move the probe and it takes a second
to respond : (

Gulp indeed!
However, as you say - that instrument has just about everything you could want in the one place, so....

I also have my  20+ year old Fluke 99B.  It has had several batter replacements over the years but still works OK
