I run my hydroponics on my trusty maximite in my garage The garage is just on the limit re distance approx 60 m Sometimes it will communicate on remote computer from dell laptop on Win 10 to an XP laptop which is connected to the maximite. Any advice on how to improve the Comms would be appreciated. Jaycar sells a booster but I am not sure how far that will transmit I would also like some advice how I can wake up the XP remotely I have tried several solutions that don't work Thanks Jeff |

If you're talking wifi, I have used the TP-Link AC750 WiFi Range Extender - Dual Band 5G (but there are many choices). PicoMite, Armmite F4, SensorKits, MMBasic Hardware, Games, etc. on fruitoftheshed |

Thanks Tinine and Lizby Yes wifi is the problem I did have a booster installed .There are 3 leds on the booster which I assume indicates signal strength. there is only one on - with the booster right up alongside the modem I have just received a new Telstra Smart modem which I have installed and all other equipment is working ok. The range must be better as communications to the shed via the new modem is slow but acceptable.Comms via the Wi Fi booster is not good at all The booster is recognised but that is about all. I have come to the conclusion that the booster is faulty. The information supplied with it is very poor 10 pages on a booklet 50 X 40 and no info on the net. I will get a new one and see how that goes. Jeff |

Not sure what your communication is, but if it is serial, at low baudrate (9600), you may be able to use an HC12 link. That will work on 60 meters without problems. As for WIFI boosters I have had one that worked fine for few days, and then died. After investigation it prooved that the ground tab (heat transfer) of the amplifier chip was not soldered. The chip overheated, and died. Edited 2020-12-30 04:46 by Volhout PicomiteVGA PETSCII ROBOTS |
