It's in the download: Original Colour Maximite MMBasic firmware V4.5C on Geoff's site. Bill Keep safe. Live long and prosper. |

Thanks for the reply, I was able to get a copy. I used it to successfully update to v4.5c. However v5.06 provides a bin file not a hex file like the bootloader uses. However I can see the board as a comm device so I should be able to flash to v5.06 with stm32, once I figure out the boot config lol Edited 2021-02-15 12:44 by Mindwarp |

Hang on a minute. Are you talking about the CMM2? That doesn't need the bootloader. see appendix G of the CMM2 v5.06 manual that tells you how to program the CMM2 The bootloader is for the original colour and the mono maximites. The latest version for that is 4.5C. Bill Keep safe. Live long and prosper. |

Sorry for the late reply. I read appendix G and none of the options work for me. Option #1 My board doesn't have a Boot Config switch (do they mean J7?) nor as the manual indicates "a set of three jumper pins labelled "program" and "run"," nor a Type-A to Type-A USB Keyboard port on my cgcolormax2. Option #2 Again, Boot Config, I'll assume they mean J7. I jumper it, power my maximite via Vin, connect usb-b and and my pc detects the maximite as indicated but not as a USB serial port. I do the same steps again this time without jumpering J7 and Windows does detects it as a USB Serial port however stm32 says Error Activating Device KO verify boot mode yada yada yada. So my board doesn't seem to match what's in the manual. I'm at a loss. |

It's a bit confusing isn't it. The web page information is for the original Colour Maximite. I'm suspecting that you have the CMM2 or CG's version of it, is that correct? Bill Keep safe. Live long and prosper. |

If I go to the cgcolormax2-b firmware page, it gets even more confusing: https://circuitgizmos.com/documentation/hardware-datasheets/cgcolormax2-technical-information/cgcolormax2-firmware-update/ |

Sorry, If you have updated to version 4.5C then that's the latest version. MMBasic 5.x is for the CMM2 and you have the original Colour Maximite. The bootloader is already installed on the PIC, it is only needed for a new PIC processor that has not been previously programmed as I understand it. Bill Keep safe. Live long and prosper. |

So my color maximite 2 is not a CMM2? The naming convention is confusing a heck. Edited 2021-02-20 12:49 by Mindwarp |

Not it's not a CMM2 and yes it is confusing - it had me confused until I saw the picture. The info you downloaded for 4.5C is the latest and best apart from the hardware. Geoff has talked about upgrading the original colour maximite to MMBasic 5 but if he does it will never be a CMM2. Bill Keep safe. Live long and prosper. |

Color MaxiMite2 is CMM2, but which version, since there are now several? Perhaps a photo of your PCB would help. Edited 2021-02-20 13:04 by lizby PicoMite, Armmite F4, SensorKits, MMBasic Hardware, Games, etc. on fruitoftheshed |

CircuitGizmo produced 2 versions of the original Colour Maximite. He called his second one the CGCOLORMAX2 to differentiate it from his first offering. It still uses the same firmware as the 'official' Colour Maximite. Many years later the Colour Maximite 2 was released. It is no-ones fault that the names are similar. He has called his version of the new Colour Maximite 2 the 'retromax' Jim VK7JH MMedit |

Had I known that there would be a Colour Maximite 2, I would not have used CGCOLORMAX2 as a version. Micromites and Maximites! - Beginning Maximite |
