I've updated the list of keyboards and mice that are known to work with the CMM2/RetroMax: https://docs.myretromax.com/Of_Mice_and_Keyboards.html If anyone has more that they know of and would like to share, please feel free to post. Micromites and Maximites! - Beginning Maximite |

Keyboard: PHILIPS WPG3KB11S/42 I've used that KB all through the CMM2 testing, and it works perfectly. Smoke makes things work. When the smoke gets out, it stops! |

I have the Logitech K120 which is on the list and it does not work with Maximite 2 and Maximite 2 Gen2. It seems that no matter which keyboard (Fujitsu KB 410, Trust, Logitech K120 and others) is connected, they only work for a certain time. It's probably the power supply that's the problem. The ones I've tested don't seem to be powerful enough. What kind of power supply should I use ? |

So many 5V supplies are not up to the specification written on them. I great number that I have tested that say something like 5V 1000mA don't provide both specs simultaneously. In other words, as I increase the load to draw 300mA, the 5V has dropped to 4.5V. At 500mA a lot of these are under 4V. I suggest the Samsung or Apple wall warts. They maintain 5V well above 500mA. I changed the RetroMax design (2.3a) to use the USB "C" connector. Micromites and Maximites! - Beginning Maximite |

Doesn't matter about the power supplies too much in my experience. Most will hold their voltage high enough to keep the 'mites happy if they have enough current rating. I wish I could say the same for A-B USB leads though. Many of them are made with partially-conductive cheese instead of wire and are simply useless for supplying current. That's fine when they are connecting from a computer to a printer - there'll rarely be more than a few mA on any wire and often virtually no current on +5v. No good for 500mA though. The voltage at the 'mite will easily fall by over a volt. The supply is still putting out 5v but the lead loses the rest. And just to stay on topic.... :) I have a really cheap Acer SK-9621 which, while it will win no prizes for typing experience, works well on the CMM2. :) Edited 2021-07-11 17:35 by Mixtel90 Mick Zilog Inside! nascom.info for Nascom & Gemini Preliminary MMBasic docs & my PCB designs |

at least the problem with the Maximite 2 Gen 2 Deluxe has been solved, the sockets were wrongly labelled (there are 2 usb sockets for keyboard and mouse). Thanks to Piotr's quick help, the problem was fixed. Piotr reacted very quickly and I am glad about the fast and good help. For the old maximite 2 I will try a Microsoft 600 keyboard and I have changed the USB cable to the power supply. As soon as I have the new keyboard I will test it and give feedback |

You have a very valid point about the A-B leads/cable: Better cables have fixed a few problems for the MaxiMites. Micromites and Maximites! - Beginning Maximite |
