Notice. New forum software under development. It's going to miss a few functions and look a bit ugly for a while, but I'm working on it full time now as the old forum was too unstable. Couple days, all good. If you notice any issues, please contact me.

I had a Pico with code in it to run a survielance camera. All was working Ok, until...
I wanted to run from a battery so in my code I put 'Option CPUspeed 48000' to lower the current draw. Since then it's dead, the chip appears to flash OK but then I can't connect in TeraTerm. There was nothing on any of the pins that could draw too much current, its just odd that it happened after I changed the CPUspeed. I will use a new Pico but don't want to brick another one.

Hi Pascal,

What firmware did you run on it ? A beta or alpha release ?
Maybe re-flash using the official release ?
I did try different clock frequencies with one of the alpha releases (both 48M and above 125M, 200 and 250 I think) and could connect.

Regards,

If you suspect it's dead try loading the "flash_nuke.uf2" program to wipe everything in flash then try again. I've never had to resort to this though.

I loaded "flash_nuke", I then loaded the alpha firmware, I now have the heartbeat LED flashing but still no serial connection.

So...
The USB link can work or you couldn't have loaded the firmware.
The 'mite has booted and is running.
I'd suggest that you unplug it, reboot the PC, plug it in again & then run Tera Term (accepting the defaults). Press Enter and see if you get a prompt.

EDIT:
Just one thing - when you start Tera Term make sure that the right COM port is shown, otherwise it won't connect!  :)

The current version is 5.07.00b30 by the way. It might be an idea to try that as it reconnects to USB more easily.

Thank for the help, loaded the latest beta and it's working. Don't really know what fixed it but it's a goer.

Excellent! :)
These things seem to be quite rugged.
