Anyone seen this?

I have a Sony SRS-XB13 bluetooth speaker, which works 100% perfectly, while playing anything on it.  The second the audio finishes, and the playback stops, within ten seconds, the speaker auto-disconnects, and WILL NOT reconnect without powering off the speaker, and then powering it back on again.

The speaker is kept fully charged, and it works fine for hours on end - so long as the audio stream does not stop.  As soon as the audio finishes, as mentioned, within ten seconds, the speaker disconnects, which is starting to be a pain in the arse, as by the time I have found another file or podcast to play, the damn speaker has disconnected.

Power off the speaker, power it back on again, it connects fine, and I can play and hour or more with no problems at all - it never EVER drops off during playback, but as soon as the playback finishes and the speaker is idle again - disconnects without asking.

Anyone else seen this?
It's really starting to annoy me now.

Edimax 5300 USB BT5 adaptor.  Touching the adaptor, it is not hot so it would not appear to be an overheating issue with the USB adaptor thing.

Just a guess, could it be an automatic sleep setting. Does it have a setup menu of any sort?

G'Day Grogs.
It was sand down a wall or look into this so no contest.

Turning on/off the Auto Standby function
Turn on the speaker.
Press and hold the(play)/(call) button and the - (volume) button at the same time for about 5 seconds.
When the Auto Standby function is turned off, the speaker turns off and the(power) indicator goes out and then flashes 3 times in green.

When the Auto Standby function is turned on, the speaker turns off and the (power) indicator goes out and then flashes twice in green.

I love you, Peter.
That seems to be working!

Where did you find that?
In the printed info I got with the speaker, I could not find anything.

It is called auto standby via GOOGLE.

Some years ago we were in Ballarat on a Sunday afternoon and Nancye decided she needed a toilet NOW.
I have total confidence in Garmin but this time my confidence was tested because I had no idea what Garmin calls a toilet. We made it but it was close.
And that is the hard part, working out what things are called.

I know your taste in music is dreadful but enjoy it anyway.

Thanks again - still working fine.

Re: Working out what things are called - indeed.

You don't like my taste in music?!
Sorry about that, but thanks for the fix as I am very happy now as the speaker is NOT now disconnecting.

This is something, that I thought, would have been prominent in the manual but it wasn't.

Worked fine for one night, but now it is doing the same thing again.
I repeated the process, it blinked green TWICE, which indicates that it was now in auto standby mode(and was still in no auto-standby), so I repeated one more time to confirm with three green flashes that the auto standby was re-activated, but still drops the connection.

Waits about 30 seconds now instead of ten, but still drops off.
I might have to try another speaker/brand at this point perhaps.

I tried to send the complete article but it got knocked back because of illegal characters.

It does talk about iphones and stereo and I think I saw something about sticking a carrot in your left ear and standing in a bucket of cold tea. I am surprised that this is Sony.

Good luck, we nearly got there.

I have the same problem with my JBL-Go but I prefer to use an audio cable connection at the PC and it keeps it alive.

I have seen apps for Android that "keep BT alive" but I have never tried one.

If you stream from a laptop, disable power saving on wifi. Many laptops use combined wifi bluetooth chips. When the chip is put in powerdown, bluetooth also turns off.
