Jiri, The "smile points" for all titles seem to have shot up since last I looked, and whilst Wolf3D is impressive it's 4701 votes seems rather unlikely ... that's more than twice the most wildly optimistic estimate I've heard for CMM2's sold. And ironically if I try and vote (via Chrome on Windows 10) I get redirected to an empty page: http://cmm2.fun/rateApp.php?id=151&url=%27/listApps.php?sort=1&limit=25%27 and no vote seems to be counted. Even though I am the developer of the CMM2 version of Wolfenstein 3D, I went to look at it now and got scared by the more than 5000 votes. Isn't that a little suspicious? Edited 2022-04-12 02:46 by MauroXavier |

I just voted once. I tried voting a second time and the error message said you can only vote once per day. |

Dude, is there a chance that there are more people voting than people who own a CMM2? If true, it means that the silicon shortage severely affected the platform as it could not keep up with the demand. |

When we suppliers COULD get the ARM chip, we were all run off our feet with orders for the CMM2 - it was surprisingly popular, but that is a good thing! ![]() In fact, the all-in-one design that Peter came up with that had all the SMD on the top side, was partially because of demand being so high, and the time it took to manually solder the RAM chip and caps on the bottom of the board, was delaying the dispatching of orders, but once that board was developed(which included a few other improvements here and there), the PCB factory could assemble the whole thing as far as SMD was concerned, and we just had to put the sockets and switches on - made dispatching orders much faster then you would at first think. Anyway, now that global supply of the ARM chip has basically dried up totally at this point, the CMM2 is essentially dead in the water. The unit and design is still in an active state, but no-one can build them as there are no f-ing ARM chips anywhere in the world to be had now. ![]() It's very distressing, as we all hoped to be able to sell more units into the market - the demand was still there, but without the chips, you just CAN'T sell them, so I completely believe that demand exceeded supply - even when you COULD still get the chips - we could not build them fast enough! ![]() But now, I still get several emails via my website every week asking when I will have them available again, and I just have a script I copy-and-paste in as a reply, as I got sick of retyping the same thing over and over. Basically, not available again till AT LEAST October 2023 - yes, not a typo - one and a half YEARS is what most parts houses are stating for that part. And even then, that is not a guarantee - they could just push that date out further and further if the chips aren't available come October 2023. It's the crappiest of crappy situations, but I know that this chip is only one of thousands of parts that are now starting to see very serious global shortages, with none of them having any serious concrete date of new stock being available. We have no choice but to simply wait and see when they have them back in stock, but after 1.5 to 2 years of waiting, is anyone really going to want a CMM2 at that point? Smoke makes things work. When the smoke gets out, it stops! |

Hi all, as the creator of CMM2.fun, I'm very unhappy to say it, but it's mostly fault of my kind of programming the smile-points: 1. I'm using the GET method, that means link to add 1 smile-point is visible and can be very easily scripted. That's also reason, why the counts are so big. On begin this SOMEBODY just concentrated to Mauro's Wolf, so I leaved it, but now it's simply disaster, so I need it to change it at least to POST for start 2. I have very simple protection, from one IP you should be able to vote just once for 24 hours, but this script-kiddie is changing IP, so voting about once per second... 3. I have records with voting time, so I will be able to cancel "machine votes" pretty easy, but I need to program something to do it more automatic way and I'm now very limited with my spare time ![]() So I'm very sorry for current situation, I will try to improve it. When somebody has some idea (and HTTP/PHP/JS knowledge), time and is ready to help, I will be very thankful. I just wont to use some bigger libraries (I like the loading time) and also cookies make for me no sense (at least today and can be bypassed very easy anyway). Thanks for understanding, Jiri ![]() Jiri Napoleon Commander and SimplEd for CMM2 (GitHub), CMM2.fun |
