I've got a couple of these Raspberry Pi GPIO Breadboard Breakout boards around, and it would be neat to use them with the 2x20 port on the PM VGA. Has anyone rang them out? Is there a Chart or diagram to show the pin out of one of these  Pi T-Cobblers with?

Hi Rickard,

This is hardware so my standard line is "I know nothing", but the cobbler I've got has all the GND pins tied together and I don't believe these match up with the GND pins on the PicoMite 2x20 port - though I actually can't recall seeing a diagram of the latter yet.

Best wishes,

Tom

I think the problem was that ifyou connect them using a standard cable everything is messed up because the CMM2 port was "upside down". The answer was to file off the "bump" on the CMM2 end of the cable so that it could be inserted upside down.

NOTE: This has been done, as has making a special cable, but I would advise checking back through the forum and doing some careful examination rather than just taking my word for it! :)

I'm not aware of these being used with the MicoMite VGA specifically.

Mick I'm trying to use this with a Picomite VGA 1.3 board, When my dear Precious CMM2 gets here no way am I touching any expansion port on such a rare beast that plays Gauntlet and hopefully soon Wolf3D and Doom :) With the pico worst things I can do is blow up a $2 Pico and I got 50 of them and next time Microcenter has them I'll buy all they'll let me with the rainchecks I accumulated while they were on sale :)

CMM2 G2 has the pinout orientation to suit the RPi breakout correct.
On the CMM2 G1 the standard layout has the pin orientation reversed and requires a simple mod to either the breakout cable or the CMM2 shroud.

If you have anything other than the official board design, you will need to check.

With the pico board, as long as pin1 ends up towards the led and SDcard, all should be well.

I don't know the 1.3 board, but IIRC Peter designed it so that 2x20 stuff intended for the CMM2 could be plugged into it - it might not have worked, but no damage would result. You'd have to do some research to ensure that this is correct, unless someone else knows?

Although I have a CMM2, I haven't got a 1.3 board to compare.

EDIT:
Thanks Jim. :)

Looking at the gerbers for V1.4 (I think), it doesn't look the same as the CMM2 pinout so you will have to check things first.
It is easy enough to check for %V on the two adjacent pins and 3.3 on the first pin on the opposite side.

Sorry about the misdirection earlier.

Quazee,

The CMM2 expander is very nice.... Didn't even know this existed.
If I where around that time(Aug 2020), I would have wanted one...
