Hi all CMM2.fun users, today I have found, that it was added to the CMM2.fun record with program for PicoMiteVGA and I don't know exactly, how to proceed (right now is waiting for the approval). The program list on CMM2.fun is (was) originally meant as help for CMM2 users (partially also original CMM ones), so the programs for PicoMites, MMB4W, MMB4Land similar don't fit there, but... I know, that many users here in the forum use today different systems, because of price, availability etc., but the question is what to do with it on CMM2.fun. I ask here because even though cmm2.fun is my baby, I don't want to be the only judge who decides. So what are the possibilities: 1. let go into DB just programs for CMM2 (CMM), programs for other MMB systems will be not allowed 2. create a category for PicoMites, MMB4W, MMB4L and correctly categorize each program for non-CMM2 systems Danger is that in case 2 in DB will be duplicates because of changes sometimes needed for different systems. I expect mainly number of MMB4W users will go up because of no limitations of HW... I'm sometimes fix the screenshots, because most of the programs I download and test anyway, with the other systems I'm out of the luck (and time). So, what do you mean? ![]() Jiri Napoleon Commander and SimplEd for CMM2 (GitHub), CMM2.fun |

Hi Jiri, My 2p is that it would be great if CMM2.fun could serve all the 'mites by adding categories for "CMM2", "CMM1", "PicoMite", "PicoMiteVGA", "MMB4W" and (though it's rather premature) "MMB4L". (Note I don't see any need to re-brand CMM2.fun, just expand its remit.) Whilst it is a danger I don't think it should be an overwhelming problem: 1. A single D/B entry will serve when the link is to a GitHub project or other webpage. 2. Even when linking to an actual .bas or .zip file it's usually possible to have a single file serve multiple platforms by using selective checks of MM.DEVICE$. An exception is programs using #INCLUDE where a "flattened" version is required for the PicoMite, or the author could choose to simply deliver a "flattened" version for all platforms. I hate to be the bearer of bad news but many links from CMM2.fun into thebackshed.com are dead, i.e. about 50% of those by Wiliam M. Leue. Basically any link in the form http://thebackshed.com/<foo>.zip is bad and perhaps always has been because I don't think TBS keeps .zip files in its root directory. Also Wolfenstein 3D now has 6500+ votes which is 3x more than even the wildest estimates for actual CMM2s in existence ! I think it's fine to include programs written for other devices besides CMM2. Personally, I intend to keep plugging away with more code for CMM2, but that's just me. -Bill |
