Not really hobbyist-friendly from a cost perspective but I have one of these and it is really nice. For anyone who needs something that doesn't scream "hobby-jobby". The LCD is a SSD1963 so maybe going with the empty box and sourcing the screen elsewhere might make more sense. The LED indicators are particularly neat; install them on the PCB and light-guides bring the illumination to the top cover. Craig |

I didn't know there was a 320x240 version of the SSD1963. Always thought it had more pixels. PicomiteVGA PETSCII ROBOTS |

The PicoMite manual says 480 x 272 (4.3") or 800x480 (5", 7", 8" & 9") Mick Zilog Inside! nascom.info for Nascom & Gemini Preliminary MMBasic docs & my PCB designs |

SSD1963 is a display controller with a 1215K byte frame buffer to support up to 864 x 480 x 24bit panel. As long as you stay less than that size you can drive any panel with it. It has also been used to drive a VGA display and does this very well. It just happens that the majority of displays using the controller are 480x272 or 800x480 but there is no restriction on anything else. However, there are cheaper controllers for smaller panels which is why you wouldn't normally see it used for 320x240 |

I'm sorry, but for $100 + one can source out the SSD1962 and 3D-Print a case, and be $80 ahead :) I may be Vulgar, but , while I'm poor, I'm Industrious, Honest, and trustworthy! I Know my Place |

That's a really nice, professional box though. You'd need to put in a lot of finishing work after 3D printing to get to that standard. Remember, this isn't domestic gear, it's designed for 24/7 industrial use. Mick Zilog Inside! nascom.info for Nascom & Gemini Preliminary MMBasic docs & my PCB designs |
