Notice. New forum software under development. It's going to miss a few functions and look a bit ugly for a while, but I'm working on it full time now as the old forum was too unstable. Couple days, all good. If you notice any issues, please contact me.

English:

The videos was taken by me, since I have not the hughe experience like others here, when it comes to MMBASIC, I just wanted to spread this great project and help to make it better known in germany :)

@Daniel

Well done!   Schönes Video, sehr aufgeräumt. I like it!
And the young guy is your son?

EDIT:
Thanks also to Harm for the link.

Best regards
Michael

Das bin ich und ich drücke hier vermutlich den Altersduchschnitt nach unten!

That's me and I'm probably pushing the average age down here!

Hi Amnesie,

You should post a little more to become GURU. Currently you are SENIOR MEMBER which does not lower the age....

That video started me on the PICO and MMBasic. I have been a long time subscriber to "Explaining Computers". When I watched the video I said "I have to try that." Slowly building a version of the PicoMite Mini from Mick's schematics. I have the VGA, RTC and SDCard working on a breadboard. Just waiting for a level shifter to attach a keyboard.

There are soooooooo many resources available on this forum!

I was born in Buchholtz Germany, maybe I will have a chance to see it again, you never know.

" Just waiting for a level shifter to attach a keyboard."

It does no harm to try your keyboard(s) on 3V3. Out of four I tried only one required 5V, and that one did not have internal pullup resistors so external 3k3 pullups to 3V3 was all that was required to connect it to a Pico.

Thanks Phil I will give that a try.

Danke.
(thank you)

As I am still trying to learn German in the background of everything else going on, I was able to follow a little of what was being said, but only a little!

My admin position on this is that as it is an English language forum, please at least post translations so people can follow along.
I have no issue at all with any member posting anything they like in their native tongue, just so long as there is a translation below it so others can understand.

@David:

This is a really nice video!

The only thing I didn't like was the note with the GOTO's. They are really no longer up to date and are now (thanks to the SUB's and DO-LOOP's) no longer needed!

Where in Germany do you live?

I totaly agree with that. Sorry for not trancelating my previous Post.
But @Daniel
after a few weeks/months of experience...
Are you planning a 2nd, extended part of the video?
something like a PicoMite for beginners series

@ Frank

I'm from Rostock.

You are right with the GOTOs, as already said, I am a beginner when it comes to MMBASIC, which takes me to Martins post;

I really should do some follow up video(s), it would be perfect to get used to the BASIC dialect at the same time. Win win situation. :) Since I am really "into" guitar effects and amplifier stuff too, I am really busy with that. But in the future there will be more BASIC related stuff. I am still facinated what you guys are capable of. Much to learn for me     My strength is more in PCB development and audio related circuits + a bit of C programming. As I said in my video on YouTube, I thought BASIC would be dead and I had only read about it as an "ancient" language. But it is so much fun having a stand alone "PC" / Interpreter which is capable of so many things - especially at this price point!

Greetings
Daniel

BASIC with line numbers is a horror! Fortunately, this is no longer necessary with a "modern" BASIC.
Since 1991 there is QBASIC which does not need numbers anymore and allows structured programming. GFA BASIC was even ready by 1986.

You should have a look at Great Cow Basic
You can find the latest version HERE.

It is free and you can program PICs and AVRs with it.

I agree. I use line numbers for debugging and sometimes to circumvent a firmware bug.
