Does anyone know if it's possible to communicate with the inbuilt AIROC CYW43439 WIFI module on this board using MMbasic yet?

No and never will be. The various libraries use far too much RAM to be sensibly workable. Use a USB/UART or ESP if you need internet access from a Pico

Very interesting article bare metal driver for the CYW43439 wifi chip in the Pi Pico W

I just wish I understood it all properly Source code
for instance I didn't know that the CYW43439 wifi chip contains two processors (ARM M3 and D11), each with their own memory and I/O, and they both have to be programmed before any network operations can start.

Thanks, that was a nice find.

I would be lying if I said I understood what was going on here, but for me it's a good starting point because I love to understand the way of things.

Again Thanks,

Hans ...

I see the author says he has left it a bit buggy and now uses the ESP32.

I would choose the ESP32/8266 in a heartbeat and if I wanted to utilise the power of the chip (in BASIC), I would use B4R

That was January 2022 and as the last edit on his github was yesterday and all the rest was updated 8 days ago that comment is irrelevant

Looks nice except if anyone wants to run their existing code, such as MMBasic, it needs some serious work to re-write all the I/O etc.

For that matter, why not $2 bucks more for the 128Mb (16MB) version.

Is there a community for these?
