You have nothing to loose so you could sacrifice one board. Connect a high current power source to the board, between V+ and ground. Watch and see where the smoke comes from. If you are lucky, it might even blow the short out and leave the rest of the board intact. This method has been used successfully in a previous life. Jim VK7JH MMedit MMBasic Help |

That sounds like the fault finding method of a fellow I use to work with. If he couldn't find the fault in an electrical circuit, he would replace the fuse wire with a hefty copper wire and then look for what blew up.  Bill Keep safe. Live long and prosper. |

I hasten to report that after switching to the new version of the board - everything works perfectly! Just had to buy a lot of new parts. Damn, sometimes parts are used that are really hard to find in Europe :P   But despite everything, I'm glad that my work/road has come to an end with the third soldering (including two on non-working PCBs). Looks like it went together ok. :) Excellent! Which parts did yo have trouble obtaining? I usually try to suggest alternatives. I know the compact version of the VGA connector might be hard to find, but I thought everything else was ok. The VGA connector is easy, and relatively quick, to get from China. In this version VGA Connector, Audio Connector and microsd connector. Maybe "hard to find is wrong phrase"... I can get them easy from Aliexpress - but with 20-30 days delivery. I had already VGA connectors from last try. But I had to order other form vendors with price 500%+ of normal... But I didn't want to wait another few weeks to finish the project. I know the audio and microSD connectors are available from the big component distributors (RS, Farnell, Mouser etc.) but the postage may be expensive. Shipping is quick though. :) I like to keep a small stock of the AliExpress bits. Glad you like it. :) Have you any comments about the assembly or the manual? I bought last missing part from RS without no problems - except of price :P I found one "error", I think, in parts list: MCP1700 3V3 TO220 package - is no TO220 package (larger cubical one), it's TO92 (truncated cylinder).
