Hello! New here & wanted to share a picomite project I'm working on. It's a little 8mm film editor/viewer that is being repurposed into a tiny picomite 'computer'. A WaveShare 2.8 screen fit snugly behind the lightly frosted glass. The touch layer was removed from the screen along with the touch controller chip itself to avoid issues and recover a few pins. I found the perfect short micro USB to USB A panel mount cable for connection to terraterm but I hope to connect a ps/2 keyboard directly in the future. There are a couple panel mount LED locations, a keyed switch, and a red laser mounted inside, but not yet connected. The 8 buttons are wired to a 'Serial Wombat' as a expander - got the pico and wombat talking over I2C yesterday and called it a night. After further reading here and in the manual I wonder if I may swap the wombat for a second pico... We'll see! Have a lot more ideas brewing but for now I'm in love with drawing random snowflakes and playing polar snake during my downtime. Many thanks for all the hard work & great stuff here. -James p.s. please excuse the dirty desk ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Hello. ![]() Welcome to the forums. Excellent project, and a nice way to reuse an old film editor! ![]() Waveshare produce some really interesting and affordable boards like the one you are using there. Those are currently only US$20, which is a really good deal for what they have packed onto it! LINK... Keep us all updated on progress and on any other projects you dream up. ![]() Smoke makes things work. When the smoke gets out, it stops! |

Nice !!! The pico will also support sound, so you could even add a speaker. When you record a sound of a running projector, you can even play that as a WAV or FLAC file... To accompany the snow flakes... Adding the film wheels on arms would make it really complete, but increases the size significantly...
