My disturbance recorder has been sitting on the desk in a half finished state for a while now. Today was it's day to shine. We are having some severe electrical storms passing by. The closest strike I recorded on the lightning detector system was 0.8kM away in a neighbours spud paddock. The picomite recorder was ready and this is one of the 'disturbances' recorded.  So far, all the micromites and picomites have survived but there is a few more hours of storms to go. Jim VK7JH MMedit |

A textbook recording! At cycle 5 you can see where the HV surge diverters have blown and are now are now dragging the line volts down about 10%, till the MCB trips or HV fuses blow. Then 2 to 3 cycles of arc quenching. Edited 2023-12-14 06:35 by phil99 |

could I ask how Jim got such a nice graph .png from your Pico ? I've thought about using GFXterm then take a screenshot, (excellent GFXterm does not seem to work with the picomite edit.. for me anyway) I tried to write a minimal graphic terminal with PureBasic, (it's too difficult or I'm too dumb ) ..interesting post, thanks all! Try swapping 2 and 3 over |

This graph was compliments of Excel. The data was saved to a file on the pico then I download the events at leisure and drop the data into an excel spreadsheet. I usually start with excel and then, once I have the data collection right, put it into a purpose built program (PureBasic) In the disturbance recorder, the end result will include the ability to step through the data a page at a time using the LCD display.
