Notice. New forum software under development. It's going to miss a few functions and look a bit ugly for a while, but I'm working on it full time now as the old forum was too unstable. Couple days, all good. If you notice any issues, please contact me.

Hi All,

It is with a heavy heart I wish to let you know that a stalwart member of our group passed away on 1st January 2026.

I received an email from his executor this morning informing me of his passing.

Sad indeed. CaptainBoing wrote a lot of good code, including the heart of fruitoftheshed. Always cogent.

Inventor (or at least articulator) of my standard coding practice with the mites--code in Notepad++, save, ctrl-a, ctrl-c, alt-tab to teraterm, F10, ctrl=v, <Enter>, ctrl-z when done, then save, edit, or run. As he said, it takes longer to write it out than to do it.

Thanks for the notification.

A big loss, all that insight and good humour. Much sympathy to his family.

May his flight have clean air and good rum .

Oh, how sad. Thanks for letting us know, Mick. My condolences to his family.
The good Cap'n was a great contributor to this forum and will, I'm sure, be missed by many.

Oh heck...loved the guy

I kinda suspected something and did a search to see when he was last active. Didn't have the nerve to ask.

Funny, I always used to read his name as Captain Boeing.

Now there's only us passengers left to fly VH-TBS.

A sad loss. We had some conflicts early on but I always respected him ... even if he didn't necessarily believe me.
