Time for some love songs, cos they REALLY can get to you.

I will start this off with:

JOE COCKER - You Are So Beautiful

Not a video, per se', but this is the CD version I like. There have been a few versions of this one, by Cocker himself, but this one is the one that keeps it true to my heart, and makes me fall in love all over again....

EVA CASSIDY - What A Wonderful World

...taken from us long before she should have been...

EVA CASSIDY - Bridge Over Troubled Water

EVA CASSIDY - Autumn Leaves

...and angel leaves us all worse off...

OK, last one for tonight...

EVA CASSIDY - The Water Is Wide

...what a voice, what a song. Goodbye everyone.Edited by Grogster 2014-06-22

Well, I probably should not, but........

BILLY JOEL - Piano Man

BILLY JOEL - You're Only Human

Yes, going through a bit of a Billy Joel phase at the moment.

Like the ONLY HUMAN video. I have been the guy on the bridge, but songs like this "Keep me hanging on" - name that musical reference!Edited by Grogster 2014-07-03

Do Wah Ditty by Manfred Mann.
Monster Mash by Bobby Picket.
My Name Is Jack by Manfred Mann.
I always thought the chorus went, "My name is Jack and I live in the back, of the redwood forest, away from all the boys". It wasn't until I recently reheard the song that I realised I was mishearing it for years.
Puff the Magic Dragon by Peter, Paul and Mary. Not about drugs, apparently.
Saltwater by Julian Lennon, not Yoko's son.

Good music, good times.

Spot on personally I don`t think we`ll ever again see, the talent and songs of the 50s,60s & 70s, all tastes from C & W, Pop, Rock, Crooners etc etc
Manfred Mann again

Or is it we are prejudiced? No we are an honoured generation.

Sink the Bismark by Johnny Horton. I am not anti german, just like the song.
Snoopy vs the Red Baron by the Royal Guardsmen.
Sssingle Bed by Fox.
The Carnival is Over by the Seekers. Judith had a fantastic voice.
The Pirates by Emerson Lake and Palmer. When songs went on for ages.
Tobacco Road by the Nashville Teens.
I was playing the songs listed in this forum at TAFE class I was attending. The younger students (late teens, early 20's) thought the songs were great and wanted to hear more of them as they had never heard them before. Just goes to show what the younger generation are missing out on because radio stations only play the latest or the "classics" of rock.
Enjoy the music.

I don`t think we`ve had this fella before, my sisters cried for weeks after his death. Whilst this is not one of his best performances it is one of his last.

HAHAHA!!!!

Yep, I don't think much of modern music. It is all about how high you can warble and how much you can go up and down scales within a single line of the song - and sex appeal.

It warms my heart to think that some teens and 20-somethings of this generation are rediscovering some of the brilliant "Older" music.

On The Seekers, yes, I have had a resurgence of listening their music too. There is a great full-length concert of theirs done a few years ago on YT, which is well worth a look if you like that band.

Not sure if we have had any Queen yet or not, but here you go - try these on the younger students:

QUEEN - Somebody To Love

QUEEN - Scandal

QUEEN - One Vision

QUEEN - I Want To Break Free

...I don't think the younger students are quite ready for the video for I Want To Break Free...

And a little more madness:

IRON MAIDEN - Be Quick Or Be Dead

STATUS QUO - The Wanderer Edited by Grogster 2014-07-23

Well, if Wierd-Al is making a paradoy of LORDE - Royals, then perhaps I am not loving the music as much....

WEIRD AL YANKOVIC - Foil

EDIT: Like Al's video better then the original, so no - I still "Dislike" this song.
I guess I am just too old-school.Edited by Grogster 2014-07-25

Yeah, he's pretty impressive. Wish I could find a copy of his DVD - he has one out, but I guess you can only get it in Germany.

I like a lot what Kurt (and how) is doing in promoting the young youtube musical bands. Worth exploring his channel.

Epic Basketball + Car Beat

Anyway, is promoting youngsters interpreting popular musical songs:
"Heart Attack" - Demi Lovato (Sam Tsui & Chrissy Costanza of ATC)

But of course, there are also originals:
