Notice. New forum software under development. It's going to miss a few functions and look a bit ugly for a while, but I'm working on it full time now as the old forum was too unstable. Couple days, all good. If you notice any issues, please contact me.

A few small fixes.
DOS MMBasic and 'Run external program' now starts in the current docs folder.
Improved detection of recent versions of Windows.
Some missing keywords added to the syntax help files.
'Find' does a better job of remembering 'Case' and 'Whole words'

The installer has an option to select "XP bug fix (only select if needed)"
Only do so if a normal installation fails to run (XP with a lot of ram)
This saves having two installers.

Download from the usual location.

Jim,

As usual, many thanks for this latest update.

Are you keeping up with the many new features in Geoff's new Beta's??

Hi Jim,

I downloaded the latest version for Linux yesterday, but all I could find was mm2 which didn't work with the micromite. Do you have a version of 3.6 for Linux or else do you plan on releasing one anytime soon? Otherwise I will go ahead and use the virtual machine, but I prefer working in Linux when possible.

The micromite was introduced after that (very old) beta was produced.

I have had other things to distract me since then but I will start work on the new version again soon. It requires a full rewrite to add the features I want and to hopefully futureproof it.

I don't have any timeline so you will have to stick to Wine/VMs for now.

GDay Jim,

I Just installed V3.6.4 and Norton keeps flagging (and blocking) TFTCOLOUR.EXE as `suspicious cloud' Virus.

Have you any thoughts along this matter?

See attached screen cap.

Mick

Good old Norton's - an AntiVirus OS running Windows in the background......

Norton's Suspicious Cloud sounds a bit like their 'Reputation' Virus
Norton's hasn't seen the file before so it assumes the worst.

You should be able to tell Norton's to leave the MMEdit folder alone.

I could digitally sign my files but if I did it the cheap self-signing method, it would make no difference.

If I was filthy rich, I could sign them with a paid for signing company and then Norton's would be happier.

It is no coincidence that Norton's own the signing company.

You could submit the file to Norton's and they might put it in their known about file but you would have to repeat the exercise every time I update the program.

I can add version information to the executable which sometimes helps but only sometimes. I will do that in a few days when I get back home.

Jim

Hi Jim,

I am sure that it was a `false positive' but thought I would mention it. I have excluded the file from scans and restored it. So all is running well.

Norton labelled it as a heuristic virus for what its worth.

Regards,

Mick

Jim

I don't know if it is 3.6.4 or 4.7b30 or me but the chat window in VT100 mode has become basically unusable. Characters are transmitted but sometimes not echoed, the use of the backspace key looks as though it works but what is sent always gets a "syntax error". Edit is completely unusable.

The command line mode works fine. Has anything changed at your end?

Testing on windows 7 64-bit, 4.7b30 on a 44-pin part

thanks

@Peter,
I haven't made any changes it that area for a while (but who knows for sure) 3.6.3 might have done something.

It appears to run OK when I tested with the test server which is a MX170 with 4.6 firmware.

It will be a couple of days before I can test anything with 4.7beta30

Does it make any difference if Colour mode is selected?
