Just so you know i requested 'Gizmo' to change my username into MicroBlocks tobetter reflect what i am doing. :) I hope that my MicroBlocks concept will be a little bit more than a hobby and this name change will give people also the background of where it came from and hopefully more members. Microblocks. Build with logic. |

I love the 'MicroBlocks' name - great choice there Jean! TZA to MB ![]() Hoping it is a big success for you; and that the MicroBlocks extend much further than just for use by Hobbyists. If there is any way I can help support them then let me know. ![]() The very best of luck to you and to your 'MicroBlocks' . . . WW |

It also brings you Avatar into perspective, I never noticed the connection before but now it stands out as a very striking Logo that could only mean MicroBlocks. Very clever artwork. Cheers Chris http://caroper.blogspot.com/ |

Hi Jean! Congratulations to the new identity. ![]() Just at the moment when I deciphered your old name. ![]() (TZ = Time Zone?) Michael causality ≠ correlation ≠ coincidence |

Thanks guys. Yes TZ stands for timezone. As i live in Thailand the TimeZone difference gave me an advantage because i could do server maintenance in Europe when they were asleep. And i did not have to work on crazy night hours. As more and more moves to the cloud this work gets less and less. So finally more time for my real passion. The MicroBlocks name was one of those names that seems so easy to imagine. But it was the last one i thought of. It did 'stick' right away though as it describes perfectly what i want to do. The MB logo was a contest on Freelancer. This one made by an Italian designer who just tried out Freelancer for a while. I got lucky as this one was exactly what i hoped for. Thanks for the best wishes. I will make MicroBlocks the best there is. ![]() Microblocks. Build with logic. |

Good luck MicroBlocks ! Although I have to say, I am about to give up on this BBS, it seems to have become interested in MM-only, a pity. |

Glenn, As a suggestion, and taking onboard what chronic has mentioned, is it not worth creating a dedicated 'MicroMite' topic on TBS so that it doesn't 'swamp' the 'Microcontrollers and PC projects' section? WW |

It just seems that the MM is the most popular on this forum at the moment. I am sure there are members who can help with any non-MM posts anyone puts up, so by all means...... ![]() Smoke makes things work. When the smoke gets out, it stops! |

I may be starting a GCBasic thread when the new release comes out, it is getting very sophisticated now for anyone programming the smaller PIC's or AVR's. Cheers Chris http://caroper.blogspot.com/ |

Chris, I agree, GCBasic is really getting quite powerful. I use it when I need a smaller pic and am very impressed at how well it works. Can't wait for the next release. |

Target release day is Saturday, but I think early next week is more realistic :) 155 changes, additions and bug fixes since march are tested and included. Cheers Chris http://caroper.blogspot.com/ |

Thanks Chronic! True it is a bit MM heavy lately, but it went through some incredible changes recently so i can understand and share the enthusiasm. With MicroBlocks i specifically want to aim at prototyping and learning. Also 'smart' blocks will have an mcu with goal specific code that will probably be quit interesting. MM is so easy to use that i often try things out with it first before writing some code in C. Especially I2C chips are so much easier to figure out with an interpreter. Instant feedback. Then once figured out it is much easier to transfer to a tiny PIC. I hope to contribute some interesting stuff in the near future. I have a great prototyping kit/system that i am working on that will change the way you prototype for ever. :) I am struggling with getting the manufacturing steps figured out, because without that in place i can not proceed. I plan to document how my 'blocks' take shape here on the forum, hoping to give something back and also receive constructive criticism, because that is what this forum is very good for. Microblocks. Build with logic. |
