Notice. New forum software under development. It's going to miss a few functions and look a bit ugly for a while, but I'm working on it full time now as the old forum was too unstable. Couple days, all good. If you notice any issues, please contact me.

Ross,

I'm TXing a string of U's at 2400 baud. I can see the bursts on the SA well but have to get the averaging (peak hold) working. I used your settings from the Rigol and it was right on. Don't know what RBW and VBW really do. I just need to get the ref level correct. More playing. It was late. I'll try more today.

I'll let you know the results when I get it working.

Thanks!

Bob C.

In brief, the smaller the RBW (Resolution Bandwidth) the lower the noise floor, but the greater the sweep time, and the finer the "detail" you can see of signal.

The VBW (Video Bandwidth) is the filtering after the raw signal has been collected. A narrow VBW will help you pluck a narrow spike out of the noise, for example.
