Notice. New forum software under development. It's going to miss a few functions and look a bit ugly for a while, but I'm working on it full time now as the old forum was too unstable. Couple days, all good. If you notice any issues, please contact me.

I wonder if there are many users of sPlan here? I have tried to find an sPlan forum in English but have so far failed to do so. I have a particular problem in that circuit straight lines that I draw often sprout jaggies on the screen, and I cannot seem to eradicate them. When printing a circuit diagram from within sPlan, the jaggies disappear (so no doubt they are expected) but I want to use my circuit diagrams within papers and so have JPGs, which I would normally get by capturing the screen (but it still has the jaggies on). So either I need to find a way of definitely avoiding or removing the jaggies (preferable) or a way of printing to a jpg file from inside sPlan.

Input is requested, even from other sPlan users (are there enough to try and start a forum?) that have found the same problem, so I know I'm not alone!Edited by Herry 2016-08-29

I use sPlan. What do you actually mean by 'jaggies' - does not compute.....

By jaggies, I mean that what should be a straight line (a connection) on the screen has kinks in it.

Probably like drawing a diagonal line, it becomes pixelated. I used to have the same problem with Circuit Wizard.

Yes, but how to solve it on sPlan? And do you know of a forum for sPlan? There must be thousands of users.

If it is pixilated lines, try sticking to horizontal and vertical lines only.
45 degrees if needed are usually OK.
The printer has a much higher resolution than a display so the effect is not noticed as much.

These *are* just horizontal and vertical, but they still seem to develop kinks and I can't straighten them!

What version of sPlan? Be aware that there are updates available. Have you installed the latest updates from Abacom?

You may well have, but I don't know, so I have to ask.....

I am using sPlan 6, and the updates for sPlan(all versions) are available here:

sPlan updates

Note that the latest update is dated June 2016 for sPlan 7...

I have found Abacom to be very prompt to any problems if you email them, so if you can replicate the error, and send them a screenshot, they will see what the problem is, and can probably issue a bug-fix.

Out of interest, are you able to post a screenshot here so I can see the problem you are referring to?

I'm not familiar with splan but does it have a feature to turn on anti-aliasing?
If so this will reduce the "jaggies" but at the cost of more cpu load.

I notice on the website there is a viewer that views the files in full quality I wonder if that allows printing?Edited by skylight 2016-08-31

Hello all

Thanks for the input. I had sPlan 7, and this morning downloaded the latest update (25/6/16). From memory I thought there was always a notification if an update needed to be loaded and I had previously complied. Anyway, I did it.

Couldn't find anti-aliasing or the viewer.

About to do a screen capture (using Snagit (excellent program)) when out of desperation, tried again to straighten a long earth line that had jaggies somewhere on it (developing in a new place if I fixed one) however much I tried to straighten them up. Deleted it and simply drew it again. Appeared to work. BTW I use CTRL arrow to nudge lines up and down.

Is there a GRID facility. Snapping to a grid makes drawing straight lines a lot easier.

Yes, I have that set on. I am now surmising that the problem may be when I extend partially drawn lines. Deleting and redrawing to the full length appears to fix it.

Thanks. That appears to be a very cut down version of sPlan, allowing a person to simply access sPlan files and not work on them.
