bang for buck the forklift traction battery is a rock solid battery for off grid use second to none.

I am going to buy the biggest used forklift battery I can get that comes in
2V parts. I will put it in it's own shed with excessive ventilation
and have the best bang for buck there ever was.
In a bit. next year when I retire? need to make a concrete floor for the shed for the battery.

Yes, that makes a lot of sense.

I plan to find another forklift battery to double up mine before next winter. With five in the household we get a bit low sometimes during the winter months  ...  but with an additional one, we could run a bit more heating and for longer.

And the original is 48v 980aH and cost us $500. Bargain.

Every day when I look at various forums and FB groups there's someone complaining about bms problems  ...  and while I know many have success with lithium  ...  I'm very happy with my FLA choice.  

Pete, when ya do, have a chat to CEIL ... I've gotten both my packs from them and have lasted well...

yea I have talked with CEIL for a 48 volt 1,000AH pack about 10K brand new on a pallet, well as I'm still on 24 volts it's around 5K for a pack and my shearing shed can finally get powered up.

I saw the reports when they were expanding and wondered how they would go.
IIRC the zinc - bromine system has been around for quite a few decades, usually
with problems though. Zinc doesn't recharge well and bromine has a lot
of handling issues. I think the product was on "The Inventors" a long
time ago, using a gel electrolyte to solve some problems (?).
I wonder how the batteries failed ?

If a product isn't verified by testing, any claims by the vendor are just hype or plain old BS.
If reasonable testing has been done there will be formal records of it,
visible by potential clients, a strong selling point.

I am always skeptical of New Technology and NEVER in a rush to be an early adopter.
It seems almost inversly  proportionate with hype Vs reliability.
I got the Impression the Gubbermit had some hand in the flow batteries and that in my book is never a good thing.

I am happy to wait some years for things to be in the market to see how they go in the real world  especially before spending the kind of money those things were. No manufacturer is going to tell you their product has faults and the lab tests are always set up for the best possible result.  It's how things go in the real world I'm interested in.

My game is in a pretty fast tech changing world but what I always say is what I do is the same as it was 30 years ago and pretty much another 50 years at least before I got into it.

My gear is 10 Yo and does the job perfectly because the Job hasn't changed so why would I need more bells and whistles and business expenses to do the same thing?
MANY people in my game change and update gear as soon as it comes out which is every 12-18 months.  There is always some new Gimmick or must have feature that I have never even once thought would be nice to have.  Just more buttons, more menus to scroll though to find the basics you do need, more complication and more things people in time find out don't work the way it should..... For which there are more updates to down load.

I'm happy to stick to my Forklift batteries.  None of the supposed advantages of Lith are a benifit to me and I know that 90% of the claims against traction packs are absoloute bullsh*t dreamt up by the vested interests profiting from lith sales and their want to be seen to be backing the right team Minions whom cannot answer the simplest Technical question about lith or LA.

I laugh every time I read stupid Claims of " You have to water them".
Big effing Deal! I have to wipe my backside as well and I spend a LOT more time in a month performing that nessacary task than I do topping off the batteries.

Havent done it for months now anyway.  Put a pump on a timer that triggers once a week.  All I have to do is keep water in that Drum which lasts for 6 Months plus and All is good.

The electricity I need is not going to change in the time I have left on earth so the traction packs will continue to do the job I need..... at the lowest price possible.
