Hello Ian, IMHO I would think carefully before connecting four LiFePO4 12V batteries in series, despite what they tell you, they do not share the voltage across each equally OVER TIME. Been there done that a few years a go.
It's usually recommended to include a 12V four Input active balancer to keep them tracking together, does not always work even then.
The other thing is the unknown variances in the construction quality of the individual batteries, without seeing one cracked open, it's had to judge if any shortcuts were taken, you can get away with some of that in a parallel bank setup, but you will come unstuck quickly in a series setup.
If the batteries had Bluetooth monitoring of each cell and you know what you are doing, you could keep an eye them for signs of impending failure.
In the end it would pay to get a 48V setup with a single 16S BMS. _ Edited 2025-10-12 13:42 by KeepIS |
