ABC (Australian TV) Foreign Correspondent series just had a special
episode on the rise of EVs and their manufacturing in China,
well worth a look. Quite eye popping !
Looks like the early vehicle industries in the West, rapid progress and churning,
booming with a hundred or so companies and no doubt consolidations and so on.
It is repeated 5.29 am Thurs AEST Sydney ABC etc.

Now if I can get an EV for practical use... and a 1920's Cadillac for the weekends..

I saw some of that online. It is amazing just how fast China have taken over the EV market. They are way ahead of many other countries.
I also read that the US has 100% tariffs on Chinese EVs so they will be running on dinosaur fuel for a long time.
We have an EV that we charge off our solar system.
I don't have a Cadillac though, I do have a BSA motorcycle that I ride for pleasure though. That is more my style

Didn't see it, But well aware of the mega factories, some amazing stuff, much of the solar EV battery industry has been heavily subsidised or it wouldn't have made it this far, how much depends on what information can be dug up, some of it we may never know, not all EV's are perfection on wheels.
Not unusual that China dominates the market each time the new next best thing comes out as well as buying up all the resources around the world and control the supply chain achieving market domination, Australia and other countries help fuel this, we could have been building this stuff in Aus, but bureaucracy will screw it every time, always has.

For those with there heads (up @&$#)in the sand, look at all sides of the story.
Factories during the 1940's were converted, retooled for the war effort, producing all manner of things, just think how easy this is now with fully automated robotic factories, change the program and the next day it can mass produce something else.  
Perhaps the US is not going to have all their eggs in one basket (We shouldn't either), At least they Build EV's Batteries solar panels etc, funny thing is the renewables are doing well as the demand is still growing...ignoring all the unmentionable stupidity.  
I'm still interested in an EV but it would have to be cheap practical about the size of a station wagon, not a nasty little coffin, In guess there might be a secondhand market at some stage just not much good at the moment.

The factories certainly are robotic, I have seen a clip of Tesla's as well,  with few if any manual workers visible. Mass employment is going down the tube.  
At least the factories are making something productive I guess, instead of armaments.

One of the problems with EV's in Aus is there are few service depots out in the  country so if there is a problem it is awkward. Just as well they are reliable.

Very nice.......To look at , All our budgets combined wouldn't come close.
