So I am running:

> ?mm.ver
6.0003

with: OPTION RESOLUTION 1280x720 @ 372000KHz

and in mode 1, with the font set to font 1, if I edit a program.  When I save or run, the font reverts to font 3.

I have set the default font via the option lcdpanel console command, but it reverts upon exit, or if I use an option command wrong it seems to load font 3.

Or as I just found out, if I make any syntax error, lit instead of list.

Any ideas? I could also be doing something wrong...

I think that is deliberate, to ensure the console and editor will be readable no matter what resolution, font or font size was set. Some screen and font / font size combinations made it impossible to read or correct errors.
Set the font number and size in the program Text commands to ensure you always get what you want.
