Forum Index : Microcontroller and PC projects : I've been busy
I've not been very active on the forum for the last few weeks, as I've been tied up with mounting the harrier on beams (so pub patrons can sit underneath it). It was a lot of fun. My next step is to mount LEDs underneath and inside it (and potentially a sound system and smoke machine/fans) and control them with a PLC to produce a more dynamic experience. Here I am to provide some sort of scale. ![]() And with our first patrons underneath. ![]() Video of the final lift here: https://1drv.ms/v/s!AnkZn9N9Pt1fyaYYSSCLAb-HZguLlQ?e=Wj93SF Now, to enjoy a nice pint of Guinness under the shade of it's wings! |

Likewise. I just returned from helping setup our controls on a drill rig for a UK group of scientists doing some exploration on the L/B Robert. ![]() |

Nice work there with the harrier! If only you had edited out the crane and straps in the video - it would have then looked like a real VTOL onto the beams!! |

Those are both really cool. :) Great video, Pete! Edited 2025-05-03 18:06 by Mixtel90 |

Heck, I wouldn't be able to resist sticking some speakers in there with sound FX. "Automatic vertical take off has been initiated, system checks underway" [Turbofan spinning-up sound effect] ![]() |

Way cool |

I'm sure those steerable exhaust vents could produce a welcome, cooling breeze for the tables below. :) |

Thank you all! Very cool! I like this idea! Maybe a task for somebody good at video editing. I know! We have some great ideas. We're going to experiment with it over the summer. We were toying with the idea of a smoke machine with fans that would blow smoke down, linked with red LED's to give the impression of hot blast air (yes, I know technically the front two steerable exhaust are cool bypass air and only the rear thrusters are hot - but that might require some explaining). But I think ultimately we might forego the smoke machine. We were thinking of putting misting lines under the wings to spray cool water over the punters on the really hot days.
