![]() PC3-piconesPlus_046.zip Hello everyone, I've adapted the pico-infonesPlus retro gaming console emulator project for the PICO COMPUTER 3 hardware. pico-infonesPlus Video output: DVI or HDMI Sound output: I2S or HDMI Controls: two NES/SNES controllers, Wii controller, USB keyboard or gamepads. I've currently assigned the HEC controller connections to ports GP0...GP5 GP0 - CLK GP3 - CLK GP1 - DATA GP4 - DATA GP2 - LATCH GP5 - LATCH I would like to somehow decide on a standard connection for these game controllers to PC3 In general, I would like to know about your interest in porting this emulator? I am sure the author of the project will not refuse to make a ready-made configuration for PC3 hardware. |

ExcellentThere may in the future be a series of articles on the pc3 and the various codebases available for it in Silicon Chip Magazine (and eventually Practical Electronics) so it would be great to add this as another firmware. Although you don't need to in this case, it's quite possible to share the clock and latch lines for NES/SNES controllers. Each controller needs its own data pin. The number of controllers is limited by how many data channels you read. :) |

The NES emulator is very cute There was already a 128/200k Mac emulator on the RP2040. For purely personal reasons, an Atari ST emulator for PC3 hardware would be very interesting |

I thought my Atari STFM was the bee's knees at the time. However, much more recently I tried an emulator and TBH I'm glad we've moved on from GEM. :) Having large amounts of RAM has made a huge difference - even if "large" is defined as 1GB. |

Will connecting two NES controllers like this satisfy everyone? Although in most cases, only one NES controller can be connected for single-player play. |

Interesting project. The 2350 version can be equipped with a bootloader. For the PiComputer3 it would be very nice when MMBasic can be selected, -or- NES emulation. This may require a change in MMBasic, so it could run from a bootloader. I am thinking about building a 2040 based NES system, just for fun. They have a PCB that supports a DVI breakout board (the one that Mick also uses), and an SD card breakout board and has connectors for 2 SNES controllers. Simple assembly. Volhout |

On the PICO COMPUTER 3 board, you can solder another identical chip onto the flash memory chip and install a chip selection switch. This allows for quick and easy firmware switching. |

The Pico is a *dedicated* controller costing peanuts. Why fart about with bootloaders, soldering extra chips etc? Just build a dedicated board. A lot less work. :) The YD-RP2040 is currently £2.26 on AE Choice. WeAct do a similar board with a RP2350 for £3.04. |
