Well in order to make these slip rings I did need to set back up my rotary table with the 4" 3 jaw chuck, now back in the day I would dial this up in minutes but move forward a couple of decades since I last worked as a machinist dialing this in was hours of fun only to find was getting no where. So took of the chuck plate off and as I did bore a 30mm diameter hole in the plate and the rotary table has a 24mm bore, machined up a locating boss then getting opposing points within 0.04 was good enough for me Now trying to draw this up will be a nightmare on my A1 drawing board so I'll just use a scrap book to roughly hand draw it up. The poly carbonate disks do need to faced in my toolroom lathe and with the brass disks being 1/2" a 10mm carbon brush will be the go. Basically I want to get this made then I can take in to a sparkie store and order the right brush's so I can fabricate the mounting up. Regards Bryan |
