Hi Homa,

If one drops out, I would be more than willing to take a board, or set.

Everyone has paid! Thank you.

I opted for the PC3 1.2 version because it uses the SOT23-6 package for the USB host power controller instead of QFN.
If in doubt, you can solder it. And all the other components, apart from the controller, can also be soldered.

I’ve ordered the additional components. The memory is missing and has an estimated delivery time of 19 August. Only then will I be able to order the fully assembled PC3 board.

When I decided on the radio module, it only cost 4.50 there. What’s more, it’s soldered in straight away! So I went for it, worked out the costs accordingly and placed the order. In the end, I had to pay the difference, but not the 6.20 stated there. I haven’t quite got to grips with it myself yet. In any case, this component has already been delivered and will be fitted.
We’re currently just waiting for the memory module, which is cheaper than the price shown there.
As promised, I’ll provide a transparent breakdown of the costs at the end once I’ve got everything here. I just wanted to give a quick update!

jlcpcb has also positioned the radio module correctly in the DMF; it’s looking good so far

It was only with the hdm2VGA adapter that I was once again asked to pay a hefty additional charge. The HDMI socket is a rubbish component

Let’s wait for completion and the delivery

I've previously said you should order the adapter without the hdmi connector. It is trivial to hand solder (really trivial - 2mins max), Just buy the part (LCSC) and get the boards without it. Personally I would buy them without the VGA socket as well.

Me too. It would save a lot of money. If you are only ordering 5 boards you could simply order 5 adapters too, and not pay for the V cutting.

I’d be willing to solder the adapter myself. It actually doesn't look too difficult. I probably even have all the parts on hand, except for the HDMI connector, so the PCB alone would suffice.
On the other hand, I don't want cost to be the deciding factor :)

You could mount 4 of the HDMI adapters on one panel (2 x 2), which would mean 5 panels to produce the 20 adapters. That should be relatively inexpensive.

AFAIK you are usually better off not asking the PCB assembler to fit through-hole components on short runs as they are labour-intensive. Let JLCPCB work out the panelization too, they will be more efficient.

Update:

Completion and dispatch will take place with a slight delay. The new estimated time of arrival is 1 September 26.

In response to my enquiry, I received the following information   :

Order is currently undergoing rework because several defects were identified during the AOI and QC/QA inspections. This has delayed the order beyond the original estimated completion date. The displayed progress percentage may also not immediately reflect the additional rework process.

Our team is working to resolve the issues as soon as possible. If the rework and final inspection proceed smoothly, we will aim to ship the order by the end of this week.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.

I can’t wait to see what’s in store for us!

Update: The parcel has arrived!

The first test looks good. Now I need to test the remaining 24. I’ll pack them up at the weekend and they’ll be dispatched from Monday onwards (yes, I’ve made a note of any special requests, such as holidays, etc., and will take them into account!).
Let’s hope they’re all fault-free.
