Completed inverter thoughts

200 amp breaker box is what I installed it in

With over 50 lb Transformer this box ain't rigid enough

When lifting it up the box bins diagonally

Of course it'll be fine I'll have it mounted to a piece of plywood

If I was going to do it over again I would find something more rigid

Now to the inverter board itself

If I had it to do over again I would get a board with no more than 16 mosfets

Just my opinion but I think 24 is overkill and just ads more components to go bad or too fell


There are eight capacitors on this board each capacitor is 1500 UF I think this is way too low of a value

With the four mosfet little China board inverter I made (with the help of poida the great) it starts enormous loads

But it has a almost 30 lb Transformer in it and it also has two18000 UF capacitors

That's 36000uf compared to 12000 with the 24 mosfet board

One of the greats on here not saying any names (warpspeed) has said on more than one occasion that the layout of the inverter is very important

I would definitely agree with that

If I was to do it over again I would lay out every component and figure out the best configuration before I even started putting it together

So to wrap this all up with my very little experience

very little knowledge

I would advise someone it was looking to build an inverter

to use the biggest most efficient Transformer that they could get their hands on

The biggest uf capacitors that are rated for an inverter that they could get their hands

Pay very close attention to the layout

the very most important thing of all

Is do your very best to get one of the greats on here to Mentor you

keep in mind you got to be willing to listen

This project is officially over

all the testing went very well

I wasn't able here at the house to get the fans to kick on

the highest temperature I could get from the heat sinks was 84 degrees Fahrenheit

Tested with a fluke 561 IR thermometer

The bi-metal temperature switches don't turn on until 104 degrees Fahrenheit they kick back off at 81 degrees Fahrenheit

63 amps on the DC side was the highest I was able 2 sustained for more than 20 minutes from lack of batteries

I have done short bursts of 120 amps but not enough batteries sustain it

I still haven't checked the sine Wave have no way to

I will be putting an ad in the paper trying to find somebody that's willing to come check it out for me

I cannot afford a scope at this time so that's my only hope

Everything that I could do here at the house has been done

so now it's going to the RV wish me luck

By the way the little for mosfet China inverter has ran everything that I wanted it to run at the bus so far

I will be giving it to my dad and installing a few solar panels for him for when the electric goes out

If you've made it this far I think you for your interest in my projects

And I appreciate all of the wisdom from everyone on this site
