Nice work Tiny, maybe add some diagonal brace at the back and if needed a couple of extra ones at the top.
What batteries are you putting in it?

Or you could just put a bench top on it and make it into an extra work bench.Edited by renewableMark 2018-12-31

Looks the part tinyt , when the wooden covers are added it will be amazingly strong.

If you are worried about the weight of the batteries, fasten a piece of plywood under the

batteries, too the top of battery carrier rails.

Thanks Mark,
I plan to put the diagonal braces if needed. I did used 3 or 4 4.76mm dia. pop rivets at the corners where I think stronger joints are needed. Initially I was going to weld them but chose the rivets to keep the zinc plating intact.

I will be using four RNG-BATT-AGM12-100 and place them at the bottom shelf. When I have more funds, I will add four at the top shelf.Edited by tinyt 2019-01-01

It looks like you had a Meccano set when you were a kid .
Great idea, though these perforated angles are expensive here.

specs on those batteries are not great for the price advertised. they would be OK at $500 not $1000 for 4.

Even if you baby them they are not going to make 5 years of daily 25-30% cycles. ie 50 cents /kwh that might be fine for a RV that is rarely used but not a offgrid house system that is going to be used daily.

I think you would be better off with some really cheap forklift, golf cart or mobility scooter cells and thrash the pants off them for a few years.

or get something like this Tesla smart modules . should be good for almost 3000 kwh @ 22 cents /kwh (if they are not old and been stored in freezing conditions for years).

I still think its a bit pricey, for quality gear that lasts, the benchmark is under 10 cents/kwh (US$).

EDIT: still too expensive but better Shift EV Edited by yahoo2 2019-01-05
I'm confused, no wait... maybe I'm not...

Thanks yahoo2 for your very good advice. Shows how little I know about batteries. Unfortunately, I already bought four and will never do it again.

Sorry, I should have said something sooner. I was trying to find you somebody that was splitting up a Tesla model S or X battery pack.

A pair of those modules for $800-850 each inc freight would get you 10.6 kwh.

if you were using 6-7 kwh per night in theory there would be an easy 20,000+ kwh, that would give you under 9 cents/kwh for storage costs.

Still, its not a total loss, those AGM's are functional for now(not like my wifi mesh points )
if something better comes along soon you could sell them, they would be fine as backup power cells.Edited by yahoo2 2019-01-05

Hello all.

So, what's going on about the inverter from 2019.
There is not much news.

I'm not a specialist but am in the need of an inverter, then found these topics about the Low Frequency 6kW Ozinverter.

I tried to get in touch with one of these Ozinverter guy without any luck.

I still don't know if the Ozinverter was never finished (still under developpement) or if it was a "finished" and working DIY product.

Is this thread about Ozinverter or different from it ?

I have an old 700W EI transformer LF UPS that I was thinking to use to experiment before switching to bigger project as I want to be able run power tool and stick welder.

I'm handyman, but not electronic, so I wouldn't like to spend time with something needing a lot of adjustment and development. I wouldn't even be able to do it !

So I'm still seeking info about these homemade inverter.
Has anyone made one and using it daily withn o trouble ?

Any information would be appreciated ?

If you read some of the build threads here you would see plenty have been made, many different versions of power boards and control boards have proven successful.

Spend some time reading, I would suggest the nano control card and the Madness power board.

Hi mark! I'm also reading and researching on these beautiful Poida Home Projects and their "Nanoverter" control card it made it all available! Already for the power board of Madness, there is only the first version in the forum that was not with totems ... The final version of the Madness power board was not available for home builders of pcb. Could you or Madness post the files on the power board? Thankful.

No, I don't have them.

Only person that does is Madness and he probably wont give them to you as he ordered a bulk bunch of boards so we could get better pricing.
You can order boards from him, just send him a email.
