Hi Peter, - no RTC - solder mask on the rightmost contact for the nunchuck - R144 seems retrofit (is soldering okay ?) feels like it has solder on the part, but maybe not on the pads. -or- the footprint is too small. Didn't ask for the RTC as they are expensive and I wanted to minimise cost if there might have been issues. Nunchuk connectors should be fine, just the way I laid it out R144, R138, U7, U17 + all through hole were soldered by me - extended range parts that I had stock so omitted from the build Video beautifully clean and audio no discernible noise |

RTC now added and working Just checking out the performance of the new board The CMM2 G2 normally runs at a CPU speed of 480MHz but will overclock to 504MHz The PicoMite normally runs at a CPU speed of 133MHz but will overclock to 378MHz Time for solar eclipse calculation at maximum overclock speed: PicoMite 25.5 seconds CMM2 G2 6.6 seconds Edited 2024-03-07 00:57 by matherp |

Whats the advantage of the external RTC in comparison to the internal RTC of STM? |

Much more accurate. The internal relies on a typical 32Kz crystal which is subject to the usual temperature variations whereas the DS3231 includes an integrated temperature-compensated crystal oscillator (TCXO) |

Hi Peter, In Pico you have greatly improved graphics speed by re-writing blit/scroll routines for optimal speed in 1pixel, 4 pixel, 8 pixel etc. moves (IIRC). Is this also usefull for CMM2 ? Volhout PicomiteVGA PETSCII ROBOTS |

Looks very neat and tidy, Peter.  I was about to order more G2's, but I am going to wait till you have tested and are happy with this new layout, then I can just order these - and not have to do anything other then plop them in the case, really.  In your ZIP/Github of the gerbers etc, can you please include your front/rear panel files, so that I can order these new ones to suit the new board. That breaks down to US$170 + DHL(usually about US$40 or so) and any import duty, so US$42 per unit + international shipping to send each unit off to wherever it needs to go. That is usually about US$15 for tracked airmail + a small profit margin for me to make it worth the effort, so I'd be setting my new price for the new all-in-one PCB at around US$80-85 all-up, including case, front/rear panels, fully assembled board and international shipping. Pretty much HALF the price of the current ones, cos all that time soldering on the connectors is no longer an issue. This new layout is an excellent idea, as some customers still moan about the price of the current one, so if we can effectively HALF the price more or less, that should make them much more desirable then they are now. That's the estimate that I am working from for now, anyway. Smoke makes things work. When the smoke gets out, it stops! |
