Notice. New forum software under development. It's going to miss a few functions and look a bit ugly for a while, but I'm working on it full time now as the old forum was too unstable. Couple days, all good. If you notice any issues, please contact me.

Subject: Re: GDay ... ( you only need Back shed Forum for communication to Robin's "inner circle" and Team-Joker .... Terry here !
... Terry left at 1610 - no need for SMS.... )

Hi Alexey. I do not use SMS for communication with my Internet friends. It is only I have friends visiting you in your town.
Important that you try and join the Back Shed Forum. First see if you can see the information in Russian.

The link to the forum is at the top of the [MicroMite] page, but anyone can go direct:
http://www.thebackshed.com/forum/forum_topics.asp?FID=16

I attach what we see in English. Can you see Russian ? I will follow my email to you by some good news. If able, I will include this same image.
I may try and include all this email, so Mick and others can give you help.
Your English <---> Russian translation software may not work - but if it does, it will be a fantastic step forward.

Later today I hope to give a news update on the Back Shed Forum about good progress with Terry ( end of BlogX )
Maybe we will have street and house detail mapping, as a complete GPSS download, available soon.
It can be used free by anyone in the 150 countries of the World.
They will not use it for SatNav - Microsoft is behind now.
But there are many specialised users using GPSS.EXE or GPSSppc.EXE and maybe the MicroMite will help make it happen.

Hi Guys ! Great progress this weekend, which makes it good if Alexey in Siberia can communicate on this Forum. I am hoping he will first communicate here, so he is the point of contact with engineers collaborating with him.

The first picture is on Alexsey's page, still only shared with a small "inner circle". I would like to be certain that Alexey can first communicate here first, so he can then release the link, and not me.

Terry and I made great progress today, and there is the good chance of Team-Joker collaborating in days, with use of free mapping an use of iPAQ based Autopilots.

Alexey, in his email below says engineers around him in Russia can speak English well. He can start by communicating here. If it can be switched to display Russian, that will enable his non engineer friends and family to read this Forum. I am happy to set up the Alexey page, which I have. But I cannot maintain it as a forum - none of us have the time.

Maybe he can find some way of setting up an "Alexey Forum" closely linked to this.
I'll try and paste in his email, read after I updated my "BlogX" on www.gpss.co.uk/rbblogx.htm

I hope to add more pictures and progress in the coming days.

Hi Guys. "Work" on detailed mapping in Siberia, Russia, is being delayed, by this morning's breaking news on the 0700 BBC World News Channel: UK Government aid for Southern Ethiopia, for aid, and for other parts of Africa. Those who have the link to Alecsey's page, may see the breaking news. In short, Akalu in Addis Ababa,
the capital city of Ethiopia, did pioneering work, many years ago, using GPSSppc on a Pocket PC. He demonstrated it being used by a blind man with a white stick. The words make a direct link to the MicroMite work. When I have time, I will copy the new material somewhere, like my front page. But more probably, that "Pocket PC" page first: www.GPSS.co.uk/gpssonce.htm

Good Morning Gentlemen and G'Day Down Under :-)

This just sent be direct email to some mates ...

About to post on Back Shed Forum, then creep back to bed for more sleep :-)
For those that can, good if you reply on the Forum, or just reply all, as you see fit.
Some will not want a barage of email broadcasts. If so, just as for it to stop, preferably CCing someone else.
For those on Forum, my [www] takes you to my "MicroMite" page www.gpss.co.uk/micromite.htm
You need to visit "Home" at the top, then from there to "Holiday". Yawn :-)

P.s. i.e. just follow the link to my "Home" on
www.GPSS.co.uk
scroll the page, under the Angel Gabby ( that's Gabriel, Aleksey ).
Then for the link to [Home]. Enjoy, and feedback welcome.

P.S. Mapline Radio Clock says 0000Z GMT/UT/GPS Time Midnight.
I've seen it do an adjustment with the hand spinning around.
Curiosity makes me send this off, and check it before creeping up to bed.
Before that, I was going to set this PC burning a DVD copy,
and use the Lounge Win 7 PC to check things quickly.
Still 0000Z. Two mechanical clocks say 0203Z :-)

p.p.s. The page is getting a bit closer: will need to upissue that "Snoopy's Team-Joker" video on the "Holiday" page ( under Royal Marines video )
to close a black gap near end. Will also add a couple of clips showing Dick's Balls in the bath, and the news that they are back in working condition.

Got plenty of sleep last night, but most of my time is visiting people.

Sorry that the Angel Gabriel is still on the "Holiday" Page.
Suggest you go via "Home" on www.GPSS.co.uk
Then read the bold text, if you've not already, and click on "Homes" under the Royal Marines. There's a black gap to be closed, and more video from Dick to be added.
Robin
www.gpss.co.uk

Two videos you may like at top. In due course I'll link "Holiday" from "MicroMite"

This just sent out >>>>>

Hi Dick. I estimate that I'll be making that updated "Snoopy's Drones" public on www.gpss.co.uk/holiday.htm before 1030.
I need to have a doze on the sofa, for a bit of catch up on sleep. Might get interrupted by Richard for pub grub - best not today Richard.
Have laid out the wine, etc for our Italian Class with Maria, which we are hosting. June will be back late from an exibition in London.
Priority will be having that page in a sufficiently good state, but not spending too much time on it.
Had a solid hour of sleep last night, but will be grabbing a bit more.
A "rough's gallery" next perhaps, not unlike that near the bottom of www.gpss.co.uk/bigpic.htm
e.g. Gary Carter, with the mugshot linked to www.carmech.co.uk Gary donated Boats 1 and 2, etc, etc.
After that page is reasonable, then be better placed for some fun ;-)
Robin
www.gpss.co.uk
p.s. who is already on the Back Shed Formum ?

Enrico: it's clear that Sicily could be at the heart of what this is all about:
Use of overlapping hobbies to use Tourism as a force for good.
Luca came up by chance, when that 2010 Holiday was processed by Youtube.
It's not a bad example to use for promotion of things like Sicily,
and harness that Youtube Translation capability. e.g. Dutch at La Riva, Russians at Lupo di Mare.
You pioneered that Pocket PC stuff, Ferrucia filmed me throw Boat 6 into the sea, and I know
a crazy scientist who has a swimming pool big enough to test robot boats in.
We have through you, the right connections. e.g. Alfio.
And we even have that famous Australian Opera Singer :-)

(PERHAPS I'LL ADD THE ENDING, IN CASE ANY OF YOU ARE IN DEEP SOUTH OF ITALY :-)

Any chance of giving me two or three examples of sentences in the Passato Remoto form ?
It's the most difficult part of tonight's homework, and Maria has been including it for weeks.
e.g. "I have always been trained to avoid doing work myself, and I enjoy watching others do it for me, assuming they are capable."
Sono sempre ... ?? .. .. ??? scapere(?) ... fosse lavoro per mio(?) , e piacesse vedesse altre persone fanno per mio, ..... sort of thing ? ;-)
Something like that ? Something which will surprise Maria - you can be as rude as you like in our small class of 7 :-)

That sort's tonight's homework.
Video may have uploaded to Youtube now, and I'll try and plug it into that "Holiday" page.
Thought you should see what I'm doing to it - but all in a good cause.
Seems all of your lads are relevant for mug shots. e.g. that job Alessio has.

Hi Guys. Enjoy the new "Snoop's Drones" video on my Extended "Holiday" page, on www.GPSS.co.uk/holiday.htm .

If there are questions about thing like that new Extended Rogues' Gallery, best ask on this Forum, rather than by direct email to me. Someone else may be able to answer your question more quickly.

But I will give you a clue on that famous Australian Opera Singer ? He is in last year's holiday video. We never did sing that duet :-)

Now to get a bit more "shut eye" on the couch, after a snack.

June is up in London for that TV Industry thingy, and I have to be ready to receive our Tuesday night Italian class here. No Probs - I've got the Italian red wine uncorked, and the place as ready as it can be :-)

Hi Guys. This email reply to John, Team-Jokers founder member, says it all ...

I love it John :-)
Just about to post a brief message on that Back Shed form.
Dick knows of the publicity stuff, having been CCd.

Sam Matthews wrote a nice article years ago, right at the end ofwww.nhscare.info/inpress.htm
In process of tracking Sam down, I sent my email to Jasper Copping who wrote that article in the Telegraph, before Snoopy's 2012 Atlantic Attempt.
www.telegraph.co.uk/news/newstopics/howaboutthat/9700893/Snoopy-Sloop-the-unmanned-toy-boat-attempting-Atlantic-crossing .html

Eventually Sam turned up at a newspaper in Ireland:www.kilkennypeople.ie/
Reckon this email will do for that Back Shed posting
Got a solid 9+ hours of sleep last night :-)

Hi Guys. Before I post more recent news from today, which shows my first Sailing Saucer robot boat, destined to have a MicroMite Autopilot in it soon, here is an email reply to Dick. Is there any MicroMite involvement in this Drone Recce work ?
Robin
www.GPSS.co.uk

pasted in from reply to Dick >>>>>>>

Hi Dick. I reckon that's worth you posting on the MicroMite Forum. If on our thread, that we'd get an automatic email response.

I got 2.5 hours "power nap" earlier, in front of telly, until June called "grubs up".
June is now watching "the real Marigold Hotel" - relevant, but I'm completing Sailing Saucer Mk1.
www.gpss.co.uk/alek.htm

Peter thought it was me doing a "wind up". It may have been a joke when I started,
but very rapidly I reckon that even Sailing Saucer Mk1 may work well - very light, fast, etc.

We will soon see. But it was only when Aleksey sent that drawing #2 that inspired my (our?) Mk2 concept.
and I saw how his wind vane worked, that the "bulb lit".

i.e. my old wind vane AutoPilot, and using the same 360 degree sail winch servo.
BUT, instead of geared to a rudder, it goes up a "wind vane shaft" inside my hollow mast.
No need to make up that stepper motor, etc. Already standard servo product and in my software.
Enormously less power needed too, if power switching used on the GPS, as we've done in past.

But KISS for now - first see if Mk1 sails as I hope, and what changes are needed, like size of bottles :-)
But pictures and videos say more than words - so back to the Games Room :-)

If you are not on that Back Shed forum, signed up to our Team-Joker thread,
Let me know, and I'll post this on there. Guess I could do that anyway ?
I which case, I MUST tell the to look at yesterday's Drone Tests on www.gpss.co.uk/amra.htm :-)

Hi Guys. Anyone out there able to sell me suitable assembled boards ? :-)

The following is now at the top of my "MicroMite" page www.gpss.co.uk/micromit.htm

QUOTE

Sunday 12th March 2017: Sorry that this "MicroMite" page got left behind - but good progress can be seen on other pages. e.g. the Holiday and Sailing Saucer pages include video of our road testing the MicroMite, in it's required Robot Autopilot mode.

Software is no longer on my critical path: it is getting several of the required MicroMite board systems assembled by someone. "Build or Buy ?" - Definitely BUY ! :-)

There are sufficient details below to provide a specification. e.g. Futaba compatible pins from board, for connecting devices like rudder servo, GPS, TTS, USB PC Monitor for software load, Compass. Ideally the boards might include similar connectors for a second servo. e.g. Direct Wind Vane position, or Wind Vane Clutch, as described in Aleksey's Sailing Saucer page.

I am happy to buy such boards, then pop them into Snoopy's Robot Boats being tested at Bray Lake, elsewhere in UK, and anywhere in the World. Maybe you experts can see how the same board, or an enhaced version, could support other things. e.g. a "C: Drive hard disk" using an SD card, or even sound output supported by MMBASIC playing of .WAV files ? If so, memory permitting, much of my Pocket PC Autopilot could be ported across, including recorded voice, in any language.

But remember those wise words from an American Engineer: "Keep It Simple, Stupid" (KISS). I am ready for those assembled boards now ! :-)

Hi Guys. This reply, just made to Roy, at 1140 UK time, has extra information...

Subject: Re: MicroMite boards... priorities, Jack, and getting others to do work :-)

Good Morning Roy. This email is primarily for Engineers, on MicroMite, but it overlaps with "family stuff" that has an important influence on my priorities.

I've just about got my "head above water" in past few days, getting www.GPSS.co.uk pages tidier, rather than just coping with emails from Russia,
Australia, USA, and Europe.

Your MicroMite board is far too valuable to me as a software test bench, for me to risk putting in boats, of which we now have a fleet,
including a Sailing Saucer.
Your valuable board also does not meet the specification on size, etc, needed for it to drop into a boat - such as Eric's or Sailing Saucer Mk1.
It does not need to.

I am certainly in the market for several built up boards, suitable to be popped straight into several boats, as I can the Picaxe ones.
I would not be surprised if others, in our extended Team-Joker, here and overseas, would not want to buy the same product - after public test and acceptance

Phil is most welcome to provide an offer, on the MicroMite Forum, with a Specification all can see that should confirm to that now on www.gpss.co.uk/micromit.htm
However, I think Phil's time would be better spent using the efforts of others, to exploit any publicity opportunities for his business.

I'll CC several others, such as those who have the known expertise. I'll probably post this email too, onto the Back Shed Forum.

Still a few hours before June goes over to Jack, for her first attempt at giving anyone an injection.
Talk about a "baptism of fire" - a Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT) injection into the tummy of a 97 year old.
Jack is back to his normal self, after we got him back from Frimley Park Military Hospital yesterday, as seen on the Hubble Cams.
June has chosen not to call the District Nurse, suggesting that they might like to do the injection.

Off subject ? Not really: I tend to prioritise my time and get others to do work for me, and am happy to pay for it.
I may combine a trip to Jack's this afternoon, as observer, with a road test of the latest MicroMite Autopilot.
There should be time to make the software change, since I've not broken your MicroMite board yet

I expect June and I may get some quality time this afternoon, going for a walk as the sun comes out.
My only problem is that I doubt if I will con her into us visiting Bray Lake

Take Care

p.s. the servo was added days ago. Checkout the recent road test videos - but hope to do more soon.
Most of the few hours I've spent were in handling loss of power to the GPS, with it losing it's settings.
i.e. the AutoPilot still does it's job, but the TTS warns that the GPS settings have been lost.
Some with the time, may wish to find an exactly compatible Sirf Star IV(?) supply to the Globalsat BR355-S2, which takes the Patch, setting Static Nav Off, then coming back out of SiRF binary mode into NMEA at 4800, with only the $GPRMC messages enabled, every 1 second.

Sorry that my demands (requests?) may be a little demanding for some :-)

p.s. Incoming call being taken by June ref Jack: June's sister Gill about to call District Nurse, due to Jack complaing of stabbing pain: could be a benefit in disguise.
What I was about to say was in response to "a bit of Bray Lake testing":
The standard "Bray Lake Test" is just the start. Boats are normally left on the lake for typically at least a week of 24/7 testing. This is often chosen to include a period of gale force winds, to ensure that the toal boat system can maintain station, including natural tacking into the wind. After that, we may now include "river tests", in places such as near Windsor/Eton bridge, to see how various Snoopy Autopilots and boats, cope with a sideways river current, emulating tidal current. Our adoption of the existing MicroMite could mean that our extended Team-Joker, around the World, might participate in these tests, using their own boats, and a Snoopy Autopilot: either the existing and documented one, for GPSSppc on an iPAQ, or - hopefully - the MicroMite.Edited by Robin Lovelock 2017-03-13

Hi Folks. After a long period of "work" on other things, I've just added a video of the MicroMite based autopilot being tested here, and I'm in the market to buy ready built boards to the specification on my page: www.gpss.co.uk/micromit.htm
