Notice. New forum software under development. It's going to miss a few functions and look a bit ugly for a while, but I'm working on it full time now as the old forum was too unstable. Couple days, all good. If you notice any issues, please contact me.

MMEdit V5.3.6
Further refinements with AUTOSAVE N
Stopped the duplicate control characters being sent in Linux version.
Changed serial handshake on close. This vastly improves pico reliability when sending large volumes of data through the USB.

circuit said  Gosh, how excellent!  No screams of outrage from Windows Defender; no claims of virus embedding; it just simply installs!

And here we go again!  The latest version has been completely blocked by Microsoft and I cannot even get an option to override; the download is simply deleted before I can even find the download.  What a pain!

Just tested on W11 Pro- no issue. Download using Firefox, extract using explorer, click on the exe and Defender comes up with a dialog, click "run anyway" and its installed

Just teasing .... (no nVidea graphics card)

No problems on Linux. Downloads fine, extracts fine, runs fine.

Same problem for me. Previous MMedit version downloaded a few days ago without problems. No idea how to solve the problem. W11 in use.

Same problem here. Firefox was the only successful download but when I tried to unzip, the file went to zero bytes.

OK so I temporarily switched-off protection and it downloaded and installed.

I test the download using another PC.
W11 with Defender.
Download with Firefox,
Extract the files,
Run the installer
click on "more info"
"Run anyway"

I also tried the download, once before the update and once with the latest version, and in both cases there were no problems, with all security mechanisms activated. Only 7z instead of Windows ZIP.

Installed Firefox and followed your guidance; no problem with the download now, very straightforward.  Thank you.

Sorry Stan,
I don't understand the question.
I think you are trying to load a program using the "Load" button.

Did the program fail to load?
If it failed, I need more information but if it did load successfully, just think it magic.

A small update for the Linux users to test.

MMCC now scans for available serial ports every 2 seconds and if there has been a change, pops up a short notice informing of the change.
The pull-down list of ports now only includes ports that were found.

Once the new version has been run,
Users have to edit the MMCC.inf file to add any fixed serial ports they wish to include in the list of ports.
Line 65:
Linux fixed ports =
change to
Linux fixed ports = ttyS0 ttyS5
etc

This is still not as user friendly as the Windows version but definitely an improvement.

Extract the MMCC file from the attached ZIP and replace the file in the MMEdit folder.

MMCC.zip

Linux has a habit of changing the serial port designation whenever there has been reset of the pico and you are using the USB console.

If there aren't any problems identified, I will include it in the next update.
