Notice. New forum software under development. It's going to miss a few functions and look a bit ugly for a while, but I'm working on it full time now as the old forum was too unstable. Couple days, all good. If you notice any issues, please contact me.

Hi folks,

I don't suppose any of the UK based shedders has a PicRomite backpack/PCB (by Grogster?) gathering dust that they'd like to donate to a good cause ? @lizby (mostly) and I are starting to look at what needs to be done to build a spiritual successor to the PicRomite from MMB4L.

Best wishes,

Tom

Thank you, PM sent.

Not sure the Netherlands is part of the UK though, it's a shame such close neighbours aren't in some sort of club together, we could call it the European Union .

Thanks,

Tom

Thanks Volhout, PCB arrived this morning. Didn't realise the postage would be quite so much. If you want to drop me your email/PayPal details in a PM then I will reimburse you.

Also do you, or anyone else (Grogster?) have a copy of the "Constructor's Pack", the links in the original thread appear to be dead.

Best wishes,

Tom

From Grogster in earlier communication:

@ Volhout:  There is no constructors pack or schematic for this, as it is just a blank PCB that you assemble.  If you want the Gerbers, I can upload the ZIP file here if that is what you are after, so you can get your own boards made.

Hmm,

Then what did this link to in the past ?

I'm hoping for at least a BOM and a couple of photos so I buy the correct connectors and don't mount the headers on the wrong sides of the board.

And (idiot that I am) I spent a couple of minutes scratching my head over the mosfet (?) on the silk screen that didn't have any corresponding solder pads ... and then I realised it was the Rictech logo    .

Best wishes,

Tom

  thwill said  the correct connectors

I used 2x20 long pin female headers for the pi connector, since I wanted to be able to mount it on a Pi3B and the USB connector shells would be in the way with ordinary 2x20 headers.

For the other side connectors, I would just use male headers, possibly right angle, and it wouldn't matter which side of the board (I2C, COM1, SPI, COM2, PWM).

The ILI9341 takes a female header, and for the SSD1963 I'd just use 2 female headers--pinned together when you solder them to make sure they don't separate. Both of those go on the soldermask side (solder on the underside).

If you still want this, let me know here and I can compile something and upload a ZIP file.

As mentioned, there is no BOM as they are all just standard connectors, but I can rustle something up if you want.

The Dropbox link is dead, cos the PiCromite project was ultimately dropped by Peter, so I did not see the point in keeping the constructors pack online for a now  unsupported port.

Anyone who wants the files though, is welcome to them - just let me know if you want me to post a ZIP file here.

I don't want to put you to a lot of trouble, but if it is easy then yes please.

I'm a beginner so my problem is that I don't know what some of the connectors are called which makes it difficult to buy them, e.g. the two and 3 pronged white connectors, though if all else fails I will just use standard headers as suggested by @lizby. Also photos to ensure I mount things on the correct side of the board are always useful, though again I can probably muddle along with @lizbys instructions if it puts you to too much trouble.

Understandable ... don't order any more boards just yet .

Thanks,
