Hi stepper / Trevor

Welcome to the forum. Trust you are doing better than the English cricket team ATM

Not sure if any of the UK members have any for sale but I should be able to post you one when they arrive.

I haven't worked out payment methods yet. Will advise.

Hi Brian,
Many thanks. I have been following the forum for several years but have just not needed to post. I am re-building the control gear for my CNC gear cutter and hope to move over to the the F4 from an Extreme(which works very well) and am using an ER 9" screen. I enjoy new challenges as there was no need to movefrom the Ex252.

Hi Trevor

You're welcome

I did notice your joining date after I posted.

Sounds like an interesting project. Do you have link to the screen you are using?

I'm just pottering around at present. Nothing major. Still learning the ropes with these things.

I am sorry for being a nOOb here, but what is the project regarding these 'vet6 black boards'? I have several of them lying around - are there any chance of them being able to run MMBasic?

Thanks!

You need to read this thread:
https://www.thebackshed.com/forum/ViewTopic.php?FID=16&TID=11324#133816

I think everything needed is there.
I haven't play with these yet (but have some on order).
I do have some of the other STM boards that are great for running MMBasic.

As far as I can see (at work now), it seems that integration of an LCD-screen
is being looked into; what if I wanted to use regular VGA etc. like on the UBW32
or similar?

Which STM boards have you used? Something like the Blue Pill?

Thanks!

>Which STM boards have you used?

The Armmite F4 MMBasic port uses the STM32F407VET6 module found here
The LCD which that board supports natively is also available on that site.

>Something like the Blue Pill?

The Blue Pill doesn't have enough flash to run MMBasic.

This STM32F4 doesn't support VGA. The stm board linked to has a header for a 3.2-inch TFT LCD panel. The adaptor which is the subject of this thread allows larger SSD1963-type panels to be used--4.3", 5", and 7". Still larger 8" and 9" EastRising SSD1963 panels will work if you additionally use Grogster's adaptor: here

Thanks for your answer, I appreciate it. Sad to hear that the VET6 does not
support VGA - any other boards that CAN run MMBasic?

I am not keen on those smaller LCD displays, sorry for holding up the thread :)

Are you specifically tied to VGA? The Pi-cromite MMBasic port supports hdmi output, which means you can have a display as large as your TV (assuming you have a relatively recent one), or with an hdmi projector, as large as the wall you can project on.

The Micromite eXtreme 100 & 144 pin versions both support VGA displays.

Hi Brian,
Sorry about delay replying, have been at a garden railway meeting all yesterday! Thanks for your updates.

I used the display in the link below, all that was needed was to change over the existing jumpers J3 and J4 - un-solder as supplied and connect the other.
The screen then worked perfectly with any program I loaded. The whole thing was surprisingly painless. You will need the adaptor pcb as mentioned in the thread in the paragraph below.I have used it on the E100 and the Extreme 144. I did make a small ali extension plate to make it "backpack" and a couple of nylon stand-offs to relieve the strain on the adaptor and 40 way socket. I can send details if or when you need them

If you look at page 2 of the forum topics pages you will find a thread EastRising 7,8,9" e100 adaptor by Grogster from 1st August, it details setting up the micromite and which options to choose when on the Buy Display site.

http://www.buydisplay.com/default/9-inch-tft-lcd-module-touch-display-w-ssd1963-controller-board-for-arduino

Please do shout if you need any more help/info/pictures.

The adaptor boards arrived this morning.

Just checked my emails again & there was a photo of them at my front door. Still there. (We rarely use our front door)

They look really good:

For:-
paceman (2 off)
disco4now (2 off)
stepper (1 off)
bigmik (1 off)

(& anyone else I've missed...1 or 2 spare).

Could you please PM me your addresses & confirm number required & payment method so I can send them to you. (Not particularly worried about immediate payment)

Boards will be AU$2.00 ea plus postage.

I also have 6 x 40 pin female headers @ $2.50 ea on hand if anyone needs any with their boards. I do have more (& cheaper ones) on order but they will be a while coming.

@Grogster. Just noticed your reply.....

Are you going to get any of Matherp's F4 adaptor boards made up for sale?
Be interested in some.

I was going to, but I am late to this thread, so you can do them!

Done....

Thanks.

Hi Brian,
Thanks for your PM reply. I tried to reply back via PM but couldn't find a "SEND" button. How did you do it?

Reply was:
Great, thanks Brian I'll let you know.
Yea it's blowing a gale here and bl..y cold, well 8 deg anyway. Worst part is no sun, Melbourne has heaps of 'clag' days as we call them and they're depressing, no wonder the Russians drink! I had two weeks up in Noosa back in mid July and it seems a lifetime ago now.
