I was trying to wrap my head around how the totem pole drivers work and saw this

Can u see it

If so any suggestions

I'm not exactly sure what part number it is

I think I've read somewhere that diodes have different voltage drop across them

I don't know how it would affect it if I put the wrong one in thereEdited by BenandAmber 2019-05-06

I have a up and running inverter is because of Poida the great and others on here telling me what to do

I have a lot of determination

BenandAmber Salaams,

I got my 10KW unit running. Video here.

Connected it up. Worked first time. Yaaaay!!!. Still a ratsnet of wires and cables, but that will be dressed up soon.

Fans start at @45 degC and stop at 39.

Will load test on higher loads in a day or two. Fingers crossed. Wish me luck.

Regards to the family

Ben, is that your board with the missing part?

If so pick up a 1N4148 and solder it in.

That's a real nice setup you got there

are you liking it so far

and do you think this board is overkill with 24 mosfets

Renewablemark thanks I really appreciate you telling me what I needed

Without you guys I wouldn't have been able to do none of this I can't thank you enough

I ordered 30 of them today from digi-key they only cost a dollar eighty but by the time I paid shipping it was over $11 bucksEdited by BenandAmber 2019-05-07

The diodes came in today

Thanks to renewablemark I knew what to order thank you much

Something that is a lot more interesting is right above those diodes

That is the board out of a 120 volt AC two 12 volt DC power supply or wall wart you know the kind of things that you charge your phone with

Poida the great brought this to my attention thanks by the way

So instead of having to wait for the slow boat from China we can have dc-to-dc power supplies

A lot of these Style wall warts work on DC as well as AC

I'm running a 48 volt system and I tried almost everyone in my house and they all work on 48 volts DC

This is absolutely awesome to know

Since then I've started reading about ladyN experience at running AC items on DC

I just thought I'd bring it up in case someone else didn't know

like I didn't maybe they'll see it on here and be as glad as I was when I found out

Yes she does from what I read on her post

Does anyone know if the physical size of a diode makes a difference

The diode that's on my 10000 watt board is physically larger than the diodes I ordered

I ordered 30 1n4148 so I can change them all out if necessary

Ben, in this electronic tinkering business it pays if you learn to look up data sheets for components.
Its very simple, just type the number on the component into Google and sift through the 'hits' to find what you are searching for.

With diodes its principally the reverse voltage and the power rating.
Next is the forward voltage drop and speed.

You need to check those diodes if you blow up any of the mosfets, that often takes a diode out as well in my experience.

Tinker

I couldn't make anything out on the diodes that are on the board

I even got mine 11year old son and he couldn't even make anything out

And I have a large magnifying glass

I bought 30 of the new ones just in case

I was thinking that I could probably change them all out if I had to

I'm sure the new ones I bought are the most common diode for this style board

You know how China stuff they just use what they happen to have on hand that day

I'm just wondering should I change them all which isn't a big deal at all

I still really enjoy fixing and soldering something and this gives me an opportunity to do so

I'm just really appreciative that somebody told me what to buy because I didn't have a clue

People like me don't know what they're doing and if somebody don't at least point us in the right direction then we don't have a chance

So moral of the story if people quit giving out advice people like me don't have a chance

If something isn't exactly the same it isn't anybody's fault

And it isn't a big deal at all it's all part of the fun of electronics

If everything worked out perfectly every time it would be no fun at all no challenge no fun.

And if no advice was given they'll be no use for this site

So a big Thanks goes out to those willing to step forward and give a little bit of advice you are much appreciated

Different suppliers will have different casings,
I have some rated the same and they are different sizes.
What is the link to the ones you got?

I ordered them from digi-key

I de soldered one of the diodes that was on the board and got a better look at it

it says 1N4148 on the side of it

So it is the same part number

Just a little bit different size exactly like you mentioned earlier in this post

I was kind of hoping you would tell me to change them all

I really appreciate your help renewablemark

It wouldn't have mattered to me if it was the same or not

I still enjoy solderingEdited by BenandAmber 2019-05-12

this is the one you got

looks fine to me, probably what I would have ordered.

Maybe one of the wise old owls could confirm.

There is a little black jumper bottom right-hand side

Does anyone know what this jumper is for

I think it is for changing the voltage of the board

not sure which way the jumper should be for a 48 volt

I got a hold of the people that I bought the board off of

they said it was for Factory testing

I need not worry about it

I don't believe it but that's what they said

I was a little bit worried that the first inductor wire wasn't big enough compared to the Transformer wire

at the bottom of the picture there 2 a w g two of them so a total of 4 on the low side of the Transformer

I came across these giant chokes figured I could get more wire on it

so that's what I've done it has 16 in hand 2 mm wire 51 U h and I've already epoxy it

It shouldn't be too much longer till I get this one up and running

Haven't had much time to devote to it

Hopefully some of the greats are looking at this post and will warn me before I blow 24 mosfets if I've done something wrong

If the board blows up the first time I start it I plan on asking for some help to figure out how to make it a 12 mosfet boardEdited by BenandAmber 2019-05-18

I found a little bit of spare time to get my new choke fitted

Hopefully it's not too big somebody please comment if it is

That little to wired device you see in the first picture

It is a switch that is normally open until the temperature gets to 40 degrees Celsius

then it closes I will be using it to turn the top case fan on and off

You can get these in any temperature range

The fan that blows across the heat sinks and mosfets will be on constantlyEdited by BenandAmber 2019-05-19
